Best Way to apply Mothers FX Spray Wax

Hey everyone,

For those of you who use FX Spray Wax, I was wondering how you applied it to the car?



Do you prefer to use it on wet or dry surfaces?



How many sprays per panel do you use?



Last night I used it on a clean light blue E320 that has a bit of swirls due to negligence. I just kinda sprayed it as I felt necessary and then gently spread and wiped it off almost immediately with a Viking blue MF. Came right off but was still wet and wasn't let to sit for a while. Did I do this right???



It seemed to make the surface a bit slicker but Im not so sure... plus, without proper prep, its really hard to tell if I did anything right or simply wiped off the product and removed it altogether accidentally.
 
Just spray lightly and wipe dry. You can also use it on a wet car . Wash car spray lightly, wipe dry. It may a couple of towels or MF towels. After the wet wash and dry rinse out your drying towels to get excess FX out. Thats about it.
 
So you dont have to spread it all out? Just kinda wipe it till its off? I just made sure I covered all parts of the car with each swipe.

Spreading it all out helps to use less product. I find that you have to use very little and spread it out quite a-ways. Make sure all streaks are evaporated; if not, spread some more. If the towel becomes soaked, use a fresh towel or it will streak a lot. Don't worry about "removing accidentally", that's what should happen...as long as the stuff touches the surface it will bond, anthing visible/wet on the paint must be removed.



I use it on wet or dry surfaces, mostly dry though.
 
Is dry also clean??? I was wondering whats the real difference between something like this and say NXT Speed Detailer? Does it also have i guess the lubricity to just spray on and wipe?

Yes, dry is also clean. If there was a scale, with 0 being a QD devoted to cleaning (like PB S&W) and 10 being a spray wax/sealant (like OCW), FX would be about a 9. I haven't used NXT, but my guess would be that it is a better cleaner than FX but not as much gloss or protection. The lubricity is OK, like it spreads very nicely, but it will NOT do any cleaning.
 
I think 2 squirts about a foot away is enough to apply onto say half a door or so. When I first tried it, I ended up using way too much so I only wasted product and created streaks. I think it's a good idea to use 2 microfiber towels, where one is to spread and buff where as the other is for a final go over at the end to get rid of any streaks.



I used the FX Synwax after hearing good things about it, and I must say that I am shocked at the results. It creates a buttery smooth, deep finish, and from now one will replace my usual method of LSP when washing my car.
