Best Waxes/Polishes by Hand?

The title of the subject says it all, what do you guys think the best swirl removers/polishes/waxes are?

I dont have the money for a PC and the pad kit, so my options are pretty limited here. I know that I wouldnt achieve the same results as if you were to use a buffer, but my combination of Meguairs #9, #7, #20, and #26 (in that order) has given me good results. Most likely becuase there are about 8 coats of wax between the two.

Any ideas?

That's a good combo you have going, they are easy to use by hand. Try P21S products, both the paint cleaner and paste wax, if you want something different. Paint finishes by hand look good too! :up

I agree that's a good combo, but unless you're using the #7 to just polish it up a bit more, it's a waste to do #7 before #20 since the #20 will strip away #7.

I assume you're using #26 liquid right? :) I'm using #26 paste once in a while and it's nowhere near as easy to use as P21S. If you're happy with #26 stay with it, but like Justin said try P21S if you want a change.

I do everything by hand too so I know your concern. Personally the only time I badly wished I had a PC are when I'm using a swirl remover or trying to clean up really oxidized paint - that's when the PC action comes in really useful. But then again, how often do you have to do it?

slow capri what year car is it if I may ask? also 7 then 20 20 takes off the 7 so change to 9 20 26 same difference!

4DSC: Yes, I am using liquid #26, at about $10 a bottle, which isnt too bad and im patronizing the local Painters supply store.

ALAN81: It's a 1992 with single stage paint (except for one repaired panel, but it all matches equally so I really dont care). It looks really good for 10 + year old paint and me being the 3rd owner. I get numerous coments daily from everyone - the people at tim hortons, cops, co workers, other motorists, etc.!

It looks really reflective for a non metallica flake paint, and I like it. Now I am wondering if I should start over with the #9, #7, then #26? or just leave it as is and wait til next spring when I do my big detailing job again. Would it make much of a difference like that or not? I have about 6x #26 and 2x of #20.

For the winter I plan on claybarring, then using 1x #9, and then a coat of NuFinish. I know everyone hates it, but it's a daily driver in the Michigan salt. Plus, other's I know personally have had excelent results with it. My dads truck hasnt been waxed for 8 months and it still beads OK with a coat of NuFinish.

I use S100 which is the same as p2s1 but labled for motocycles by hand and have had great results with it. I have also used gc which was good but not as good as s100 imo.
