Best Wax without Prep

We all know how important the polishing and prepping step is...



But some customers only want to pay for a Wash, Clay and LSP.



This means that most of the shine will come from the wax, since there is no polishing stage.



What waxes would you reccomend for the best look on an unprepped car?

That's what I was thinking too. Some kind of AIO or a good cleaner-wax would be my choice. Might not conceal flaws as well as, say, the Bilt Hamber, but I think it'd be a better approach overall.



I'd probably use Autoglym Super Resin Polish. It conceals better than most other AIOs, cleans well enough, and even does a tiny bit of correction (not as much as ZAIO though). And it'squite durable for an AIO, better than any cleaner-wax I can think of. Very user-friendly too.



There was an old trick (that I never tried..) of mixing Autoglym's SRP with their High Gloss Protection (their version of LSP) to make the SRP even more durable. That might be a perfect one-step approach.

Eh..depends. On the clay, the vehicle, and most imprtantly perhaps, the person doing it.



I've clayed without marring using Sonus Green, SmartWax (I think that's the name..the stuff you can't get in the US any more), and even Griot's many times. But then I'm going through a lot of time/effort and at least one whole claybar doing it my way too.



I'd say you oughta *be prepared* to polish after you clay...see what the inspection tells you.

Im with you Eric. But there all AIO's that contain light abrasives which can polish and protect (duh). One Grands Clean N Wax, 1Z Metallic PolishWax, Optimum PoliSeal just to name a few.

It's a wash & wax, they get what they pay for. S100 is a good wax at a reasonable price.

yeah for sure! the finish will get at least poliseal on an orange pad if claying and one stepping!

Frank, I have never been able to...also, i have never used an entire bar on one car before either. Most of the cars I see are in need of an aggressive claybar and at least a two step anyway, so I dont even bother with a light duty claybar! Its rare when I can use meguiars blue clay anymore
 
You might consider Megs' M20 Polymer Sealant, which has light cleaners and good durability and is easy to apply and remove. It's stronger than Cleaner Wax but not as strong as ColorX. The 64 oz. jug sells for $37 at ADS.

Andy, are you referencing my recommendation of M20? M20 is a different product from either NXT 2.0 or M21 2.0. Unlike the latter two, M20 Polymer Sealant may be properly described as a cleaner wax. According to Mike Phillips, it is more aggressive than Megs' Cleaner Wax but less aggressive than ColorX.
 
I understand the intent to make someone's car good, but if you can find a wax that looks like your car was detailed, then you miss out on making money on the full details because in the customers mind why pay almost 4 times the wash and wax price for a detail when you can get the car waxed and it looks the "same". jmo
