Best wax/polish for GM Pewter.

I have a '00 Corvette in pewter. I have tried a lot of different waxes, but non really stand out as making my paint look "wet".

I've tried S100 (my favorite), NXT, Eagle One Nano, Mothers Cali. Gold, Zymol, etc...

What is the best combo for that wet/deep look on a light paint color like pewter?

Here is a few shots after a coat of S100.

Over the years, I've built a massive arsenal of just about every product discussed here in "Autopia Nation". I must say I really like 95% of them..........Most of which for different reasons. Lately, I've been on a Chemical Guy's bender.( I'm now posess 10 of their products. I'm a sick man!) Had I known about CG's years ago, I would've been using their product lines exclusively. As my sig states......." I'm a Chemical Guy's Junkie"! That being said.......CG's Butter Wet Wax would look teriffic over the Extreme Top Coat Sealant!!

(Approaching CG's Zealot status!)

Pinnacle Souveran, if you don't mind poor durability. If you're looking for ultimate wetness with better durability than PS, try Poorboy's Blue Natty's. Its formulated for dark colors, but it looks awesome on lighter ones too, if you like the wet look.

That is beautiful. IMO it won't get a lot better than a Zymol or P21s. If you aren't satisfied with the depth, then I'd investigate what you are using for your prep routine(your polishes before your first wax). As good as I thought my wax was, I found that from the excellent examples I've seen on the board, if you use one or two (you can go almost as far down the line with polishes as feasible) good polishes coupled with a paint cleaner and the PC/rotary, (if you haven't used one yet) it will make a substantial difference in the final results with your wax.

Keep up the good work with what you have so far!

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I need to work on my prep stage like lbls1 said. Honestly, I just wash, dry, & wax. I've always loved taking care of my cars, but recently started getting really anal about it. What steps should I take from start to finish for my next marathon detail? Thanks again guys.

Although I use NXT a lot the best wax that I found for silver/pewter cars is Meg's #16 if you can find it but it's been discontinued. It just makes silver pop. Of course no wax is a magic silver bullet, you still need to prep properly with clay, polish with a buffer and then wax.

That color begs for a reflective sealant. You can try the usual suspects (UPP, EX-P, Z2 pro, SG) but I have another proposal:

Mothers FX synwax Top it with the FX spray wax and be happy! :up

Runner up: Someone suggested Mothers reflections advanced car wax, then top it with Mothers reflections top coat.

Thir place: Collinite IW 845 would be another good choice, but you already used P21S and the IW looks very close to P21S.

But, I think it looks fine the waqy you have it now :nixweiss:

Well, I'd first look at getting polishes that are compatible with each other (you can choose from Sonus SFX system -skip #1 though, or megs, menzerna, or 3m; include the mild paint cleaner with your choice of polishes). After you've whacked out the paint from all of the old accumulations from the previous year, and the paint is nice, streak free and wax free, you can decide whether you would like to add a sealant, and either a carnauba or a synthetic Last Step Product.

I go against the grain by not combining a sealant and carnauba lsp's, but you should do some investigating of your own. I have seen a lot of nice examples of finishes that were topped with a sealant right after the polish, and then finished off with a good carnauba. One other thing that I tend to do is not to mix different brands of a carnauba LSP. If you pick a carnauba lsp to start with , ie P21s, you should continue to use the same LSP until you feel like starting over. I wouldn't put a mothers or a megs or any other lsp on top of your first coatings of P21s (if you wanted to use a different wax, you should start over by re-cleaning and polishing). You are aiming for a true to the texture, deep layered look without the hint of clouding or incompatability. Or...at least this is what I think. Investigate, and experiment. Happy waxing.

I got mine on ebay for that price shipped and she shows 99 cans left but on this past order a few days ago she made a mistake and didn't realize can't get anymore so got some of the last 2 cans out of her. She may still have a can or two, check ebay, search for Meguiars Paste.
