Best Wax on Silver?

hi folks,

I have been using Souveran on my red Tundra and Black '02 Z06 with fantastic results.

Just got an '04 Z06, machine silver. I applied Souveran after claying and PCL.

It does look very good, but not the "pop" and deep sparkel I'm looking for.

Any experience from silver vehicle owners out there?

I have Zaino which I used to apply to my red and blacks before I found Souveran that I could use.

i have also heard good things about NXT on silver as well.

thanks very much for any opinions.

I believe Souveran is particularly good on black and red (or dark cars in general)...

I use P21S on my Silver Audi and like it, it's tough to get that sparkle shine on a silver car though.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as yourself. I have the WG twins on top of my SSM TL. It has a carnauba type look but not as much pop. I think the key with silver is to use something that's optically clear.

A recent thread I started had some good suggestions from fellow autopians. VM under EX-P was suggested. Both are supposed to be pretty clear.

Although I'm not a Zaino fan, Z might be a good choice for your silver as it's *very* clear. Maybe top with s100 or something similar that's also pretty clear but will give you some depth.

You might want to check out pics of my TL (link is in my sig) as the WG twins might give you the look you want. Not as deep and wet as PS (no sealant give you the PS look, IMHO) but maybe WG has enough pop for you.

I've used it on silver and it's great. After the first wash, slickness tends to disappear but I feel the overall protection is still excellent. It beads like mad.

Last year I used Steve's Poorboy products on the silver car (PwC>EX>Natty's) with unparalleled results. That was better than any combo I have ever used on this silver VW. Still looks fantastic today and is slick as can be.

On my silver car, the first choice for ->ME<- would be zaino and then Glanz wax not far behind...I really like the Glanz...

I started using Liquid Souveran on the wife's new Silver Relfex VW Turbo S. The initial appliction (over AIO x2) lasted 5 weeks and was still beading nicely. Second coat added last week, and I continue to be impressed with the look and ease of use of this product (LS).

On our '96 Pewter (kind of a darker silver/gray) Volvo 850 GLT I have 3 applications of PB's EX (no toppers --- no need). I'll second tom p.'s recommendation. I like the look so much, I just haven't been able to bring myself to switching to another product. OK, I am tempted to try the newer EX-P.

IMO, the lighter (brighter) Silver Reflex doesn't have a "deep/wet" look, but it shines like a new dime, and the metal flake easily reflect any available light. In the late evening sun, it "glows".

Here is AIX x 2, SG x 3, topped with PPG and QD'd with Miracle Mist about a year ago. Since then, I have used DACP and NXT by PC. I think the first cobom made the silver look a little wetter. Although the other combo was ALOT easier to apply and looked pretty good too. Todd

I've had excellent results with Zaino (both Z2 and Z5) on silver. It provides excellent clarity and pop with silver. I recently started experimently with other products, and I have to say, 1x AIO, 2-3x UPP and 1x S100 is a good combo as well, gives silver a great wet appearance.

1Z Metallic Polish followed by Glanz Wax, very wet looking on my Reflex Silver. I top with Meg's FD and it looks awesome. The other key aspect of having a great look is making sure the black trim and tires are always dressed, I like a matte to satin gloss.

NXT is very nice on silver, as are the Moose twins, also I've tried a section of 1Z MP topped with P21S - that looked lovely.

Here's a pic of NXT applied by PC last weekend... afterwards I gave it a wipe over with Megs FD.
