Best water hose for detail use...?

I have some ONR but I still need a hose on occassion and I am sick of hoses kinking or being stubborn when rolling them up when I am done

So whats a good quality water hose that is easy to roll up (even in cold) and does not kink easy?

BTW-I had one of those craftsman lifetime black rubber hoses, held up good except for that black gook that got on your hands after a while...:sadpace:

( I did a search too on this...)

I have a couple green Swan "World's finest" hoses from Lowes. They're as rugged as the Craftsman, if not more so, and don't leave your hands black. The newer one kinks like crazy however! It may be because of the way it was packaged, the plastic straps that held it together were too tight. The older one doesn't do that.

Vinyl hoses don't kink like that, but they're difficult to roll up and leak after a while.

Tom p.- Heh heh, doesn't it just *figure* that I'd have a Griot's Hose Story  ;)

After we went through a lot of Craftsman hoses, my late father bought four of those from Griot's...two for the (ex-commercial) shop we had and two for my home shop. Two have blown out right before the male-fitting end and the other two are gonna do it before too long (yeah, my boosted pressure *might* have something to do with this :nixweiss ). Heh heh, given the shipping costs I don't think I'll be sending *those* back ;) Mine don't flow when they kink either, which is just often enough to bug me.

Meanwhile, my Swan Commercial hose and my truly *ancient* Gilmour/Flexogen hoses are still doing fine. They don't flow when they kink either, and they do kink more often, but not all *that* much more often than the Griot's ones.

I *think* I'd give my vote to the (premium/commercial) Gilmour/Flexogen ones..but I'm sorta partial to Gilmour anyhow :)

You can't imagine how many old, repaired hoses we have around here..when construction vehicles mess up the neighborhood streets I'm out there with my water broom feeling like Mr. Monk :o

Interesting, thanks, keep it coming.

FWIW: Some years back, a car friend of mine got married and for his bachelor party present I gave him a nylon collapsible hose I bought for him from sears, its was designed for people that live in apartments or condos and cannot use a regular hose, I have often thought about getting one of those, it came in a black wind up reel and it was pretty neat, not sure how it worked though.

I bought the hose that Sam's Club sells. It used to be about $24, but last night I noticed it was down to $20. It's quite a heavy duty hose for what you're paying. A comparable hose would cost much more at the hardware stores. Costco sells a hose also but IMO it's not as heavy-duty as the Sam's Club one, and costs about $19.

The only complaint I have about my hose is that it's a bit too long just for use in my driveway. I believe it's 150 ft.

I bought a Martha Stewart Hose from Walmart around four years ago and the thing is great! It has ridges on the inside of it to keep it from kinking and it seems to be very durable. Never seen a better water hose.

We also have that Swan HD water hose from lowes and while you can run over it with a semi many times, it kinks like crazy. Durable as heck though.
