i know you guys have probally been asked this a thousand times before. but could someone help out a new guy and give me some step by steps on how to get a high gloss on my paint? i have used such products such as eagle one wet and meg. #26 yellow. im not totally new to detailing but thought i could get some help from the pro and learn to do it right.. i'd like to use products that i can find around in local stores. i want to use good products and i am not afraid of some effort to get where i need to be but i just want to learn the proper way to do things such as order, what to use for application and so on. hope some one is willing to help so maybe my ride can look as great as the beautiful rides on here. thanx for any help in advance. see photos to see what i have so far.

What he said! The Ebook is really useful, and at $10, it's a great deal, especially if you're a true newbie to this detailing thing.

On that red? Well, that depends. As you browse through the forums here, you'll find out that certain things offer different looks; Klasse, for example, has a very bright shine, whereas a GEPC/P21S combo (which is a glaze and wax used a lot here) or Blackfire offers more depth. Alternatively, you could just use Klasse for the brightness (and protection) and top that with P21S to get more depth. It's really your preference.

Welcome! :wavey

thanx for the help and the welcome guys. nice to see a site that will take the time and help someone out and not just give them crap for not knowing. I really want to get the depth but also want people to look and say "wow look at that car shine" I wanna work on my way of applying but i want godd materials to do it with. gotta have the deep shine.

Well, it's been my observation that, regardless of the products used and the type of resulting shine, it always looks good.

On my previous black car, I used AIO + SG. That looked great. The application of P21S on top of that did, in fact, make it more "deep."

On my 'Vette, I used AIO and topped it with P21S. Looks good and has a nice cross of both synthetic and carnauba properties. However, I will probably be using SG the next time I use AIO.

Regardless, Autopian cars always seem to look beautiful once they're detailed.

Good luck! :xyxthumbs

Since it look like the reflection on your glass is better than off you're paint, you may want to clay.

Besides that, what kind of shine would you like?

If you have time, glaze it and S100 it. But that's lots of non-lasting work. It really all depends. Read read read. Try try try. It's fun.

I just today I put Klasse AIO and SG on my new Inferno Red PT Cruiser. Looks great. Has that wet shine look. Tomorrow I will put a second coat of SG on. If I feel it needs more depth I will put a wax on top.

i'm either thinking of trying either mothers or meguiars 3 step system. Is S100 the stuff that I can get at most harley dealers? i've seen alot of people on here rave about it. I plan on next weekend ( I should have a 3 day weekend) washing and starting with a cleaner and working my way up.

Dawn Wash

Clay bar

S100 SEC

S100 Paste Wax

That should do it. Wash with something like Meguiars Gold Class shampoo - cheap and effective. Yes, S100 is availible at most Harley stores.

s100 wax is a definite go. if i use the paint cleaner should i put a polish in between the coat of cleaner and the wax? man what a great site with alot of info.
