Best Shampoo

In your guy's opinion...what is the best shampoo for your car. I've been using Meguair's Hi-Tech Wash (#00) and just realized that it's not the right kind because it's too weak. It won't even strip the waxes...so now I need a new shampoo.

I think that's the idea. It is supposed to not strip waxes. If you want to do that, you can you APC, pre-wax cleaners, or a heavt DAWN wash.

Well it also doesn't sud as well as let's say Turtlewax...Maybe I'm diluting it too much or too little...what else is good?

Yeah, I have heard complaints about that. I have heard good things about Gold Class wash from Meguiars, but have not used it. I also hear good things about Eagle One Wet wash. But I personally have been using Mother's California Gold car wash, and am very happy with it. Suds up well with a capful for about 2.5 gallons of water and smells great. Cleans light surface dirt well.

look back because a few months ago we had a 5 page dicussion about auto shampoos and we took all of them a part one by one

I agree - there should be more than enough excellent pre-existing info on this to help you out. FWIW though, I really like my retail Zymol wash.

Also remember: suds does not equal cleaning power.

Z7 is the best I've ever used!

I agree suds are for lubricity and slickness which minimizes marring. It's the solution inside the suds that cleans your car...

:)

I personaly think that there's no answer to the question what is the best carwash .

I think it depends on what's on your car:

Z7 is deff.best for Z-users

Goldclass shampoo works best with goldclass-wax

and so on.............

get my drift?

YMMV

I like Platinum kinda a lot....otherwise, on a recently waxed ride, I would go with American Shine Carnuaba Wash...

:wavey

Paul Mitchell Tea Tree for the little hair that is left on my head :D

AND

Zaino wash for my truck's paint....and the Meguiars gold class for my cladding, wheels & wheel wells

For a carnauba'd car, I like One Grand's Wash'N Wax. All car shampoos have a decent amount of lubricity. The more important thing for me is how wax-friendly the shampoo is.

Hmm... I wonder how Z7 would work as a hair shampoo... ;)

I alternate between using Mothers California Gold and Zymol Auto Wash. The Zymol produces lots of suds which is good for a thick lather on your car. The Mothers seems a bit 'flatter' but it preserves more of the wax on your car.

For whatever reason, after I use the Zymol, my car's surface feels a bit more stripped and dry than when I use the Mothers.

Both smell great.
