Best Quick Detailer?

McGuiar's #34 or Quik Detailer OTC is best for cleaning. For shine and slickness FK 425 and Zaino Z-8. I always use #34 first because of the cleaning ability without scratching the finish. Then I usually go to Zaino Z-8. Nothing outshines Z-8.

If you looking for a easy spray sealant Chemical Guys Hybrid V7-Optical Select-High Gloss Spray Sealant Detailer is a great product IMO. It gets little attention here.

there are many out there. of course there will always be a difference of opinion.the one that i like the best at the moment is prima hydro, very slick and glossy. others that are very good are

oid

fk 425

hey guys....wondering what is the best Quick Detailer to use?

thanks

As noted, there will be a lot of differing opinions, and even the whole idea of "best QD" might be questionable...."best in what way?"

I have lots of QDs, but probably use the following four more than any of the others:

-M34- good, if gentle cleaning, leaves minimal "stuff" behind. I use it primarily when doing polishing; great for helping buff off polish/compound residue. Also good for cleaning fragile non-automotive stuff

The following leave much more "stuff" behind:

-FK425- so-so cleaning, *great* gloss and slickness

-FK146- good cleaning, less gloss than FK425, different look, a bit more durable

-Griot's SpeedShine- so-so cleaning, good gloss, more "wax like" and more compatible with waxes than either FK product

Plus, fans of Meguiar's Ultimate QD seem to *really* like it, so don't discount "consumer OTC products" like that one.

There's lots of search-info on this subject, but to be brief I like Adam's Detail Spray the best. It spreads easily, flashes-off nicely, rarely streaks, works well on glass and looks good. It's just a really nice QD. Cleaning power is above average and it smells nice, too. The only negatives, IMO, are 1) it's a bit pricey (though comparable to others in its class) and 2) the rich, pink coloring may not be ideal for certain interior QD'ing.

Other favorites are FK 425, CK Quik-Shine (probably the most versatile) and for an OTC QD, Mother's Showtime.

Slightly disappointing products, IME... Optimum ID (a bit streaky at the suggested dilution, only average looks), Meg's UQD and DG FC&S (both lacking compared to their excellent Spray Wax counterparts UQW/AW, IMO).

Best... that's a loaded question. Without any other input from the OP, I'd say Optimum Instant Detailer.

-great value

-super slick

-looks great on most finishes

-plays nicely with almost anything

-a little goes a long way

I think Adam's detail spray is great, but I've been using Optimum (spray) car wax as I dry the car once per month because I figure I may as well use a product that looks great and adds some protection.

Been using a product called Infinite Use Detail Juice. In concentrate a .5oz makes 24oz with water added to it. This is from Garry Dean's new line of products. I have yet to find another qd that leaves the amount of slickness behind as this one does.

So what others have you tried???

The two I keep going back to are:

Optimum Instamt Detailer

Clearkote Quickshine

I think Quickshine is my favorite. Just adds that extra something...

Accumulator:

I'm with you. M34 is invaluable for me when polishing. Couldn't do without it. Especially when trying to remove stubborn leftover Megs 105 polish.

MDRX8 - Does the Zanio quick detailer need to be used over Zaino products - or should I say does it only "outshine" everything else over Zaino products...

I can't comment on what the best if overall, only what I love the most. Personally I have used Adam's Detailing Spray, 3D Final Touch, Meguiars QD, Wolfgang Instant Detail Spray, Optimum's ONR-QD, and Optimum Instant Detailer and Gloss Enhancer. I have used the 3D, Adams, and OID on the same vehicle on the same day and have found OID to simply be the best in terms of gloss, no streaks, ease of use, etc. I do buy the concentrate and dilute with DI water to my liking, so it is a little more calculated than the others, but it is currently my favorite.

No does not have t be used over Z products. Z-8 outshines everything I have used ie FK425, OID, QUICK SHINE, ETC.

MDRx8- Shinier than FK425, huh? Hmmm.....how's the slickness?

Echoing dschribs's Q, does Z8 play nice with non-Zaino LSPs?

It is very slick and does play nicely... A close 2nd IMO is CG's Hybrid V7-Optical Select-High Gloss Spray Sealant Detailer.

After yesterdays detailing and a quick shot of CG's Hybrid V7-Optical Select-High Gloss Spray Sealant Detailer, I am beginning to like it more and more. Very wet and slick shine. Any other Autopians use this product????

The QD that pleased me the most is, unfortunately, discontinued: 4 Star Ultimate Gloss Enhancer ( UGE)

It gave great gloss on all finishes whether the LSP was carnauaba or sealant, cleaned well, never streaked, even in high humidity, and since all these things have to have a fragrance, its was not over bearing, but pleasant.

I guess VOC laws led to the demise of this great product?

Currently in my arsenal, I find Pinnacle Crystal Mist to still be best on carnauba. It never streaks and always leaves behind and incredible gloss. However I use it very infrequently. Griot's Speed Shine is a great work horse QD for finishes with carnauba.

FK425 will continue to remain a staple for me so far, but I am pleasantly impressed with 3D Final Touch. Nice QD! No streaking issues, okay cleaning ability and it leaves behind a nice gloss.

I really like the 3D stuff too, great value and it looks really glossy.
