Best protectant for wheels/ loweres against brake dust

I've found that PBWS isn't exactly the easiest wipeon/off product, IMHO, and I think that has something to do with it's lack of use on paint. That, and Steve says it streaks pretty badly.
 
I used Collinite 845 on my wheels(wish I had known about this stuff 4 years ago) and it lasted an entire day of autocrossing and wheel cleaners haven't fazed it yet. Its nice looking on paint and has a unique glow but it doesn't quite have the depth or sharpness of some of the other products out there.

Agreed. I used to use a foam applicator to put it on but that put it on too thickly and it was a bear to remove. Had to spritz with QD to loosen it up a bit.



Switched to MF applicator and it goes on real thin. No removal problems now.

I have used the Rain-X wheel protectant and found if very effective, I have Michelin's new product but not enough time to evaluated it.



Aren't most wheels Clear coated? if so wouldn't this make products designed to work on clear coated paint work pretty much the same way,and vise-versa?

I use meguairs #20,topped with one of the wheel protectants/brake dust repelaant. Mainly to make cleaning the rims rims easier, and not require a wheel cleaner.

Yes the products made for clear coat will work perfectly fine on the clear coated wheels. Only reason to buy a wheel sealant is because you want to spend money.;)
 
Anybody try Wheelwax yet? I'm getting mine memorial day and will be putting that on 2 wheels and PB's Wheel Sealant on the other 2 to compare durability.

Yes I have. It works well just as I'm sure PB's Wheel Sealant will but it doesn't do anything you can't already do with the products you already use on the car. In fact my sealants and my Collinite Insulator Wax are more durable than Wheel Wax was. You don't need a Wheel Sealant. Use what you use on the car on the wheels to.



One problem I did have with Wheel Wax was it's shelf life. It seperated and could not be remixed. It did this on both jars I owned. They were less than a year old.
