Best product for tinted glass

Geez ... I've been a member here since July and this is my first post ... what's up with me ??!! :D Glad to be here - finally!



I just picked up a Protege with film tinted glass that's pathetically dirty inside, or the film could even be a little oxidized. I've been waiting for an excuse to try some Stoner Invisible Glass. I emailed them about whether it was safe to use on tint, to which they replied that it has been tested on the three major films commonly installed in the US - followed by the obligatory "test in small spot first". If anyone's used this product on tint before, I'd like to hear your comments. Or, are there better products for this use?
 
Used Stoner's and Plexus and both are terrific products. The difference, Plexus is a plastic cleaner, polish and protectant. I go with the Plexus and clean smudges and haze in between cleanings with a dry microfiber towel. Get some Plexus and you won't be disappointed.
 
Hmm, looks like Plexus is possibly more suited for tint. Wonder what kind of film the AF's using in the Stealth Bomber !!
 
I've used Pro's Aerosol Glass Cleaner before on aftermarket tinting and it works fine. It is safe for tinting and works quite well with a microfiber towel.



I've never used Plexus b4 on aftermarket tinting. Kind expensive though at around $10 a can. I clean my trucks windows every other day though. Can't stand dirty windows especially at night! I've actually pulled over before to clean them.
 
For some reason I thought that Stoner IG was only available on the net (?), but I found some today on accident at my local AutoZone while I was picking up some Meg's GC wash (which I usually get at Walmart; never seen Stoner there). I was very impressed with this product! It's extremely simple to use and removed the gunk on my front windshield that Windex never could. Using it with the MF towels was great - not a single streak. I was also happy to ditch the paper towel routine. I went ahead and ordered some Plexus last week too. I plan on using it on my car with the tinted glass b/c the film looks like it could stand some TLC.
 
Oh darn, now I've gone and done it :( I received my Plexus this morning and gave it a try on my back window. It did such a great job that it started taking off the tint! Ok, to be fair, the tint was in much worse shape than I thought, but now I know that Plexus shouldn't be used on crappy tint. I'll try some Stoner tonight when I get home just to see what that product does, but basically I need new tint on the back. So now the real question is this: is there a product I can use to break down and easily remove the tint? I'd use a razor, but I'm afraid I'll mess up the defrost elements because they're not embedded in the glass. I don't really want to pay a tint shop the labor when I should be able to do it myself cheaper. I suppose I could keep using the Plexus :D , but that's kind of an expensive solution.

not sure, but maybe goo gone? works on other sticky stuff.



there should be some solvant you can pick up at an auto shop to do that.
