Could you use any carpet and upholstery cleaner to pre-treat, then extract with the pro heat bissell(water only)? Is there some solutions that work better than others?

That's what I do in almost every instance (exceptions being with my Century extractor, never with my Bissells anyhow). So yeah :xyxthumbs
I'm currently using carpet cleaning stuff (detergent and pre-spotter) from Top of the Line Auto Detailing Supplies . Another thought would be to check your yellow pages and find the local pro carpet-cleaning equipment supply store and buy something from them.
Using concentrated pro products instead of Resolve/etc. can not only save a bundle, but yield better results too. They have stuff for different types of stains if you have a specific issue (red stains, coffee, stuff like that).
