Best polish to use before Zaino?

Just ordered an PC 7484 and the ultimate show car set from zaino, along with zaio and z8. I forgot to order any type of polish scratch remover. My car has some light swirling i need to get rid of. Unforuntely, with the shortened work week, there isnt enough time for me to order from zaino again with only ups ground shipping to get it here by the weekend. What else would work good before applying the zaino either OTC, i think i my pepboys carries the pro line of meguiers, or online only? Thanks

Does meg's #7 fill in scratches? and does it have abrasives? i need a good polish that wont thin my clearcoat or put even more scratches and swirls, but will fill in scratches ><

Sounds like you're looking for a "pure polish" or glaze...

What pads are you using? Also, as stated above, how deep is the swirling? If its not bad, try the Menzerna 106FF with a white pad or the FP/FPII with a white pad. Start there and decide if you need to move towards an orange pad. If you dont want to spend the $$$ for menzerna, check out Optimum polish (white pad 1st and then decide if you need orange) or the XMT line from Pinnacle.

Zaino won't bond over oils. ZPC is great since it is water based. Menzerna is also popular. Use Isopropyl aalchol mixed with water in a spray bottle to remove polishing oils.

ZAIO is a cleaner and sealant. Z5pro has polymer fillers. Washing with a good strong soap should remove the oils. You can also use 3m wax remover.

You say this as though there isn't any oil in ZPC and that's not true.

If you use any polish with oils.. is it necessary to do an alcohol wipe down, or can I just go to Z-AIO to have proper bond with the Zaino sealants???

Chris, while I am not 100% sure of the chemical makeup of ZPC it does not contain anything that will prevent zaino Z2/5pro from bonding. Most other polishes do contain oils that do prevent zaino Z2/5pro from bonding, which does not lead to the durability that zaino is known for.

I always do a Z7 wash after polishing if I do not finish up with ZPC or ZAIO. The wash serves 2 purposes for me, to ensure proper bonding and clean the vehicle from dust and wool shedding.
