Best Paint from manufacturer?

Lately I have been thinking about new cars. I have been around here for over a year and cant remember this being discussed.

What company that makes vehicles do you think has the best paint job and the one that holds up the best from the factory?

Also what color do you think is the easiest to maintain?

I have had experience with the following colors on my vehicles. White, Black, Drk Gray, Burgundy, Red, Gold, and Blue.

I like the dark colors because they looks sweet, but I felt that the white was just so much easier and didnt show the dust.

Just looking for opinions and facts and to start a good conversation.

Thanks all enjoy your week.

Everybody knows that light colors are the easiest to maintain. It's not that they don't get swirled or dirty like dark cars, it is just that you can't see the swirls and dirt as easily. Therefore they are easier to own without feeling like you need to wash your car every day and polish it every weekend. I just went from a dark blue car to a silver one specificaly for that reason.

As far as paint quality goes, everything painted in the US sucks right now. VOC standards are forcing automobile makers to put it on thinner or something because every new car that I have seen has paint issues. It chips way too easily and it scratches when you look at it. If you want a quality paint job on a new car then you'll have to get a car that is painted outside of the US. Otherwise you'll do fine with just about any car four or five years old or older. For the last few years paint quality has just gone down the tubes.

I don't know how much fact was in what I just said, but you said you wanted opinions, so there you have it. :D

ok I'm flame me at will but I owned fords for most of my life. there paint sucks ....... got the new shop truck chevy 1500 silverado black (my ride for the next couple of years) and there paint is awsome. in my area I don't do a lot of upper end cars (and the one I do are beat.) so is chevy coming back with there paint . and how is the new water base paint going to be in a couple of years

Of the Europeans, I mostly know VW & BMW, both with good paint.
For scratch repair, Honda & Toyota always goes so much further--even on a side by side, like an Echo vs. Focus. Along the line, Mitsu has good paint, but swirls easy--though works nicely and has lots of room for reconditioning and renewal. Suburu & Nissan have fair metal paint, but the bumpers suck.
The domestics have fair paint, but the flex agents in the bumpers means their is little room to move in reconditioning sometimes. And they are SO orange peely now.
Hyundai & Kia have horrific paint, especially on their plastic components and places like A-pillars. Honestly, though, it seems Kia is actually improving in paint, whereas Hyundai clear is so thing it doesn't bounce back.

Thanks guys. I currently own a 2005 Nissan Maxima in there goldish color and a 2006 Kia Sedona in blue.
Right now the Nissan is okay, the front bumper took a beating in the winter months and the Kia is swirling something fierce. Ofcourse they are both still relatively new.
I am thinking about going back to white or maybe try a new red on my next Nissan. When my lease is up I am going back to a Titan.

Wax the crap out of the plastic components on both cars, and don't let sap, bird droppings, tar, or bugs stay long on either.
Also, touch up a stone chip immediately on the Kia. And watch your A-frame & painted metal door tops. Wax those every Wednesday at 11:30.

I'd say VW has the Best factory paint in my opinion. its hard yet responds well to polishing. Silver woudl be the easiest color to keep clean, black of course being the most difficult. Black VW paint is beautifull though!

I've been on here and Autopia for over 2 years and out of the endless C&Bs I've seen I'd have to say Bentley has the nicest paint. Out of the ones I've seen their black is perfect with 0 OP. I really haven't seen anything much better then that, even some of the German cars have OP issues.

I guess if you really want a nice paint job, you gotta go custom and take a hard hit to the bank account.
