im asking what would be the best pads to get for these products applied via UDM..

megs #83,#80,#66,#21,#26,nxt line, gold class line..

mostly used on cars that arent too bad, light swirls, scratches..

i was thinking of getting megs pads 8006-8007, but heard they pads seperate from the backing easily..

so what pads do u giys recomend for the products listed, and if possible, links to where to purchase them..

thanks so much..

I love the Lake Country CCS pads, they are very durable. I've got many hours of use so far out of mine and they still don't show any signs of wear whatsoever! I've been using mine with Meguiar's #83, #80 and #21 as well actually, and also on a UDM.

any particular ones i should get, and ones i must have...

if u dont mind what pads do u use for what megs product, and to attack what kind of paint finish..

thank u very much patman..

When using the UDM, does it make more since to use the 5 inch or 6.5 inch CCS pads?

The paint on my Corvette is very hard, but even still I like to stick with the white polishing pad when using both M83 and M80 on my car. I just got a black finishing pad today, and that's what I'll be using with M21 from now on (I previously was using M21 with a white polishing pad) I found that when I use the orange cutting pad it leaves a bit more haziness/micromarring behind, so it's easier just to stick with the white pads and avoid having that mess to clean up.

As mentioned, you can do more correction with the 5" pads, but I find the 6.5" ones work very well too and they are easier to find too (at least up here they are)

LC pads can be purchased over the counter? I had no idea.

Many body and paint as well as detail supply stores sell their products.

O'Reilly Auto parts sells some of their line under the name Spectrum (it still says Mfg by Lake Country on the back).

No, I meant they are easier to find from the online places up here in Canada. I don't like ordering from US based internet sites because Canada customs adds $30 or $40 in brokerage/customs fees. So even if I'm only ordering $30 worth of pads, the order would cost me $60-70! So if I buy from a site based out of Canada, I don't pay that extra fee. And the three big detailing sites I know of here don't carry the 5" LC CCS pads.

Oh, I see where you are coming from.

so white and orange LC pads, for polishing, orange having more cut to it correct.. black finishing pad for applying the sealants waxes etc..

anyone with a link to the best place to order them online?

I am not affiliated with the site but www.danase.com is where i buy all my stuff. Their customer service is top notch, and they are a site sponsor.

One of the other main reasons i like them is that they are in detroit, so for those of us on the east coast they ship quicker.

I just received 6 5" CCS pads - 2 white, 2 green, 1 black, 1 orange, and I like them quite a bit so far (done a 66 Vette and an 02 LS 430 with them) maybe 25 hours of paint time.

I've ordered pads from one of the forum sponsors, Danase.com

Shipping was quick, price was competitive, pads and backing plates are high quality

thanks everyone, i think i will need:

3 orange,for polishing with a lil cut..

3 white, for polishing with no cut..

3 black or blue, which ever is best for lsp's

lets say do a car with pretty bad swirls, will a orange pad and megs #83 suffice..

am i on the right track..

thanks guys..

I think that you are on the right track. IMHO i would get a wider variety of pads. I have run into a few situations where only a certain pad/polish combo would finish correctly. So in my mind the more options you have the better.

Instead of ordering a bunch of redundant pads just mix a bucket of this and keep it with you when you detail. Then spin the pads dry with a PC or UDM:

good idea, i didnt think about that approach...

your right, better safe then sorry, i guess i"ll get about 2 of each then.. but to me the black blue and red are pretty much similar, all are finishing pads, so what would idealLy be the best for applying the LSP..

thanks again for all hte help guys..
