well i ordered the meguiars pads. All of them for the pc. not getting them till next week. I was just wondering how good are they? i cant wait. Ill be using ssr 2.5 and megs. #9. Will these pads do anything to help me get swirls out of a blue car?

The megs pads are great lake county pads are a step up but for diong your car the megs pads will do the job just right. Now for removing swrils the 2.5 is a great product but you need to follow that with a polish as the 2.5 will cut the clear then you need to polish

I really like my Megs pads. From the cutting pad, to the finishing pad. I have had them for a while and not have had any problems with them.

Subscribing.

I will be getting a PC for a gift this year. I have a lot to learn about pads and polishes before I get started :)

Meguiar's, Lake Country, etc are all good pads.

SSR2.5 should work very well - try a polishing pad first, and if that doesn't work as good as you'd like, use a cutting pad. Afterwards, follow up with #9 or any other lighter polish (#80, SSR1, etc) and a polishing pad, and you'll be good to go.

Good pads, good products.
You will be what gets the swirls out of your paint. It won't just be putting some product on the pad and going over the car and it's done.
Try one swirled section first and spend some time on it till you learn how long to work the product so it can do its job. I don't really time myself, but I would estimate it takes me close to an hour to do a good job of swirl removal after a winters accumulation. That's with Meg's #9 and a Meg's polishing pad. It isn't difficult at all since the machine does the work. Just didn't want you to think it was a magical process.

Pads are a personal choice like many other tools of the trade . I use Edge 2000 and older style DA Edge pads.

I agree what you said. However, I do use the new style Edge 2000 pads too. Easy to connect, double sided, center every time by the connection system, and 100% pad contact, not just the outer edge. I'm surprised more people have not used or tried them? To each is their own!

How do you manage to do an entire vehicle in an hour? I can easily spend twice that on a hood.

Luv,
I'd be more than willing to try out the new Edge pads with the quick-connect system, but having "invested" far too much in "velcro" pads (just before the Edges came out:(), I cannot justify the additional expense at this time.

It's sure not because I am fast.:)
Actually, since I usually only do my own vehicles, they aren't in very bad shape to start with.
If it was taking me two hours for only a hood, I think I might have to learn to use a rotary. That sounds like an awfully long time for just swirl removal.

two hours, that doest sound very economicial. i would probably just bump up the chemical level a bit.....i dunno

anyways, as it goes with pads, i've never gotten a chance to try the megs pads, but i have used the edge classic, edge 2000, and lake country pads. overall, i would have to say that the lake country is my favorite, especailly the variable contact. it really feels as if you have added control and balance with the variable contact. just something to keep in mind :)

I like the Sonus pads but none was aggressive enough for tough swirls. For those the Megs Burgundy pad was the way to go.

I did with the pc and the connector fell apart before ssr2 broke down.

Need to call Edge.com :(
