best pads for cylco??

Cyclo brand IMHO. besides picking "velcro slubs" <---Accumulators words :) off the pads and them not LOOKING high quality, they are the best in my book. I think TOL sells the cyclo brand pads.

thanx.. ive got one person saying LC and one person saying cyclo.. i personally use cyclo brand and having not a lot of problems just looking for opinions

Yeah, the velcro slubs drive me nuts on the finishing pads  But I still just use the Cyclo pads. One of these days I'll try something different- the orange light-cut pads are supposed to work well, but for light work (the kind I use the Cyclo for) the Cyclo brand pads work fine for me. I just don't like the idea of the concave pads, I prefer flat ones.

And yeah, as best I can tell the 5" pads at TOL are the Cyclo brand ones, or at least they were the last time I looked.

Actually they sell both, Cyclo and LC, although for some weird reason they don't sell all the LC pads.

I'm not really a fan of the cyclo pads at all. Here's what I don't like:

-The backing material (blue cloth) breaks loose. I'm constantly spraying adhesive on my pads to re-attach.

-I get a fair amount of micro-marring when I use the green pads. I stay away from them on black!

-The orange pads fall apart because as a result of your pads touching slightly as the heads overlap. This isn't a problem on the white/green pads because they aren't as firm.

I have several sets of 4" LC pads and they are night and day better IMO. They are thicker, the backing material is well constructed/durable, and they perform very well.

I saw a post from Anthony O. a few weeks ago about testing 'new' cyclo pads, with improved backing material. TOL is not yet selling these, but I plan on trying them as soon as I can get my hands on them.

IMO, the LC pads run circles around the cyclo brand pads. I asked Top of the Line about it and they don't want to carry redundant polishing pads (white, green, orange, yellow), and the LC pads cost a bit more. My feelings wouldn't be hurt if they discontinued the cyclo brand pads in favor of stocking LC.

mgm 121499, I totaly agree. I use the LC 4" buff pads, and they are very durable and do a great job. :xyxthumbs It's important to really center them so that they don't rub against eachother.

When finnished I just wash the pads with some dish soap and water, and let them air dry.

should i buy 2 sets (4 pads) of pads for each kind of polish i use??? and how do u guys clean ur pads??

Yeah, get plenty if only because [stuff] happens. The Cyclo is good for spin-drying the pads, they don't fly off like with the PC. I usually clean my pads with Dawn, but I'll sometmes give them a *real* cleaning with EFHI.
