Best options for lots of shallow rock chips

Hi all, 04 Audi.... it has a LOT of really tiny pin-head sized rock chips on the front of the hood and fenders. They don't even appear to go through the clear but I can't take them down with my PC using a 3m or meguires compound. I haven't tried a really aggressive compound yet like OHC though.



Wondering what my options are at this point. I can only think of the following:

1. Airbrush a very light coat of color over the entire area, wetsand/buff off the excess, then airbrush on a very light coat of clear over the entire area. Then wetsand/buff off the excess.

2. Get the hood and fenders re-sprayed (really don't want to do this as it would be very costly and I worry about the paint not matching due to the Nogaro Blue pearl color).

3. Try a really aggressive compound with the P&C. I'm just worried I'd have to take it down too far and end up going through the clear then having to have the panel re-sprayed.



Any ideas or suggestions?
 
Thanks for the reply. Have you used this and if so, what do you think of the results? Does it completely fill the tiny chips so that they are perfectly level with the rest of the clear?
 
I have not used it but if you do a search on these forums you will find a few that have. I have never heard anything bad about them.
 
I would not waste your money on the Touchup 123. I ordered a kit from them a few months back, and their system does not live up to it's advertising. In addition, they have absolutely the worst customer services I have ever seen. It took over a month for delivery of the product.



With the Touchup 123, you get a filler paint and a solvent to remove the excess. The problem with the system is that the solvent will remove ALL of the filler paint that you put on, and I could never get a decent result (after many, many tries).



A method that I have found to produce great results is to get a bottle of regular touchup paint from the dealer, fill all the chips, the go over the area about 45 - 60 minutes later with detailing clay. The clay will remove all of the paint above the surface, but leave the paint in the chip.
 
Thanks bjackson, that was exactly what I worried about when I read the product description and usage. The idea is good but if the solvent is tough, I'd think it would remove most of the paint. Good tip about the clay bar! I may give your method a shot though the chips are too numerous and small to dab on with a brush... I'll need to try airbrushing it instead.
 
If the chips are anything like the chips/pitting on my M3 I'd either live with it or get it resprayed by a pro. But others have done some impressive work on problems like that when they put in the (incredible amount of) time required.
 
Thanks accumulator. I think I will first try to spend a small amount of time on it and if that doesn't work, I'll just live with it.

I concur with this statement. I ordered a standard kit back in May 27th. I received the product around July 5th. 2 weeks after an email notification that my order was shipped, I sent an email to them. No reply. A few days later I sent another email, this time using their website messaging service. Again, no reply. I finally was able to find out the owner's email address and emailed him directly. This was around June 28th or so. Got a response saying that they are looking into it. Received via 2-3 day priority from UPS on July 5th. On top of that, the products inside the kit are sub-standard. Cheap terry cloth towels and what not. The only thing you're really paying for is the filler paint and the solvent to remove excess. I have yet to apply the product. It's been raining here off-and-on. Possibly this coming weekend I'll get a chance. So, caveat emptor. :)
 
I am experiencing the same problem with Touchup 123, ordered the kit, never arrived. They dont respond to any email inquiries, and no listing of phone number on their site.



So if anyone has their phone number, please share it. I thought if I can at least get them on the phone, maybe I can get it resolved.
