Best One Step Product

Realizing we don't always have the time to properly detail the exterior of our vehicles the way we want...what would be the best one step product that removes Oxidation, Tar, Bugs etc and leaves a protective coating that lasts?

Don't know if you can get all that from just a single product depending on just how much oxidation, etc. you've got. AIO does offer some protection and will handle the oxidation, but comes up short if you've got swirls, etc.

NXT, or a good cleaner wax, should get you up and going if you can live with your present paint condition. Would suggest that you clay the car first (just rub the paint)...doesn't cost much, very easy to do, virtually fool proof and should handle the bugs/tar....you get definite results!

Careful with the one steps - might stain your trim, so take your time.

aio! hands down. i put a coat of it on my brothers maxima which he let me borrow for a week which needed some definate love. i gave it a wash 3 weeks ago and it was beading quite well. it was a month since i had done it.

My favorite one-step products are Poorboy's Polish with Carnuba, Klasse AIO, and Meguiar's Medallion Premium Paint Protection.

If it were me, I would buy two products:

First I would buy something like AIO or Meguiar's ColorX which have pretty strong cleaning abilities. I would also buy a product that has some very light cleaning ability like NXT, Mothers' Synwax, or PB's EX. Then, I would use the AIO or ColorX to get the stronger cleaning and light protection. At my first chance, I would apply some Synwax, NXT, or EX which would provide some additional light cleaning but stronger protection. Then, I would alternate coats when I had the time.

If I could pick only one, I would go with PWC or Medallion PPP. However, Meguiar's discontinued MPPP, so that narrows it down pretty quickly.

I am interested in purchasing a PC 7424 or PC 7336. I have seen a PC 7424 at Lowes for $100. What's the difference between these 2 PC's? Lowes does not have all the polishing pads that I should use. Which ones should I purchase, & where is the best place to purchase these on the internet? What pad package would you recommend? Do I need a counterweight for the PC, & what size? What size pads should I use? I have many questions because I just got a car that I really want to take care of, but have little experience doing so. Thanks for your help.

I use three one step products from time to time and like them all. PwC, AIO, and Midnight Express. As stated above, if you're trying to remove defects, these won't do much good unless they are minor.

For 1 step, this is a pretty good choice....

It actually has abrasives in it for swirl removal. Basically they took their light cut SMR and added some polymers to it. I personally think AIO is a great choice if there aren't many swirls. Most people speak of it as having "some protection" but I always thought of it as having very good protection.

In this interview with Klasse, they claim AIO will last "6 months or more."

I'll throw my vote in for Meg's ColorX. It's cheap and locally available, so that's always a plus. For the longest time I didn't think it left any protection behind. :) Oh well, that's what I'm here for - to learn.
