Best new products for 2005?

I would consider looking at ShoKar if it was priced similarly to Klasse. Anything more and I don't think so.

I want to try some of the new Mothers stuff. :)

When will these Optimum polishes be available, and how many are there (light, medium, heavy, etc.)?

Thanks

Optimum Polish should be out in mid Feb. The new Opt tire dressing will be ready soon also, perhaps around the same time as the Polish.

As for how many polishes? There is only one:D It was designed by David and a detailer by the name of Kevin Farrel to be not only a paint polish but also remove scratches, swirls and to also leave behind a very nice gloss and little to no dusting. So far it has lived up well to all that.

Thanks everyone. I guess we can continue our pursuit of the PERFECT SHINE in 2005. I hope the ShoKar comes to market and might have to give the Opt polish and Mothers products a try also. But I take it the Skokar, if it is released, could be the most exciting new product to hit the market in a while. Agree?

I believe it might be a bit higher but the sealant should last forever. I transfered the original sample from the glass bottle to a 4 oz plastic dispenser and after applying it to 6 vehicles now, the bottle is about 3/4ths full. Once the foam hand pad it primed, it only takes a couple drops per panel. I am simply amazed at how little product it takes to cover an entire vehicle.

Yes, but....The other "comparable Klasse" products (autoglym) are cheaper. :(

If I detailed as many cars as you do, Scott, I wouldn't have any problem since I'd always have a need for new products. However, I order more products than I need, so paying more makes me feel guilty, haha!

Corey-I see your point but look at all those who are willing to pay $70 for a jar of Souveran instead of $15 for S100 for maybe a 5-10% improvement in appearance.

Just for the ease of use alone, the extra for Shokar would be worth it over SG...provided Shokar is as durable, which is yet to be determined.

I have heard some good things from testers of Poorboys EX P+. I've been using the EX P for about a year now and have found it to be very good. The + is suppose to have more depth and last longer. Sounds like it could be a winner. Not sure when it will be available, but have heard mention by some that it could be this spring.:)

Scottwax, who makes ShoKar and other then durability (you still need time to determine), why do you think it is better then Klasse. And for clarification, will it replace AIO or SG or both?

I don't have the info sent to me by Chris from eShine at the moment but if I remember correctly Shokar is a true acrylic sealant, even the Showkar cleaner, "Surface Prep", has acrylic in it. If I also remember cporrectly AIO doesn't.

But besides all that ShowKar is just far easier to use, in both the prep stage and the sealing stage. ShoKar, like the Klasse Twins, is also a two step process. A cleaning, surface prep stage and then a second sealing stage.

Personally for me if Showkar lasts 2 to 3 months that's perfect for me.

I never had a huge problem with using Klasse.

I also see the word "acrylic" as mostly marketting.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&c2coff=1&oi=defmore&q=define:Acrylic

Which doesn't mean it is a bad product, I have never used it, but saying that it is acrylic doesn't necessarily make it comparable to Klasse. It's like saying "NXT has polymers and so does Zaino so they are fairly equal."

I'll just take your words that it is fairly similar to Klasse from a user's standpoint. :)

I have my sheet from eShine in front of me:

Skokar is a two step poly-acrylic system made in Germany for Shokar. No mention of the manufacturer though.

Multi-Prep is a poly-acrylic based cleaner and polish with UV protection that will remove tar, insect stains, road salt stains, hard water stains and other imperfections.

Shokar Sealant is a poly-acrylic based sealant with further UV protection. It can be layered for an even deeper finish.

Both products can be applied thick or thin and still be easily removed, according to the directions and my own experience.

The Shokar system is intended to be direct competition for the Klasse twins. Head to head, mano a mano. My personal testing is showing that the Multi-prep is very similar to AIO in appearance, ease of use and slickness. The sealant is noticably easier to use than SG and somewhat deeper in appearance, though not as deep as Wolfgang or EX w/carnauba on black. It also seems a bit wetter looking than SG but SG is a touch slicker.

I think Klasse users may want to try the sealant if and when it becomes available and compare it to SG, but if you have a lot of AIO on hand, you might want to wait until you run out before getting the SK Multi-prep since both products seem so similar.

Bill-I put my 'snattys #1600' over SK's sealant and it effective muted the 'wet glass' look on black and made my paint look deeper. Then I topped again with FK's Pink Wax because I finished early one day last week and was bored. :)
