Best microfiber for coating jobs?

So for the most part I tend to use Cobra Supreme 530s for most everything paint related. Removing polishing residue, leveling coatings, detail spray, waterless washes etc.

Recently I have been getting involved with IGL coatings and have been testing it on my own car. When I went to remove it using the short nap side of the towel it worked ok but not the greatest. I switched to a new cheap store bought variety pack microfiber towel and it worked great lol.

This started to make me ponder what everyone else uses for leveling coatings?

+1 CarPro Suedes, I use the 40x40`s and fold. I used to like the old Arctic White towels because they were super silky and were nice for coatings, but the new version isn`t as silky.

Same here on the Suede Towels. Except the bike I did this week I did use the Supreme 530 long nap side and it worked great. That was with OGC which is always a breeze to knock down high spots though. Ray I love the old Arctic White towels too with the black silk border. So soft! I haven`t tried the new ones but that is a bummer. I wish I had more than 3 of the old ones.

I have been using the Edgeless 300 from TRC. I have them in blue and yellow and use the blue with the short nap side for the 1st buff/level and use the yellow with the longer nap for the final buff.

Yes, I`ve been using shorter nap for IGL as well. It definitely is a bit trickier than most coatings IMO.

Another vote for the CarPro suede towels. They work well and their Orange color make them easy to distinguish from normal towels.

During development of our coating, I used several styles of towels and found the low nap 300GSM towels (similar to what Ancient_1 posted above) work best for initial residue removal and leveling. This is why I chose to include them with each purchase. After a couple panels I`ll go back with long nap 450GSM towels and do a "final" wipe using little pressure.

I`m going to have to check the PFM drying against their pfm polish towel side by side later on this weekend.
I only say this as when I was ordering my PFM stash, and spoke with ~tech support~, when I asked GG what the GSM was for each respective PFM towel, they advised it was the same GSM.......

i recall all saying that doesn`t make any sense, the drying definitely has to be more dense, blah, blah but on both separate phone calls , the reps were adamant they were the same density

I have have all the PFM`S and they`re all the same just different size.

The only thing different is the glass towel. Instead of having two PFM`s sewn together it has a pfm and glass towel sewn together.

I`ve been using the Detailed Image short nap all purpose towels since 2010, which are very similar to the ones Ancient_1 posted and the ones Richard mentioned. I`ve tried lots of other towels too but these just seem to work the best and are cheap enough for one time coating use. I do delegate them for none paint use afterwards though.

CarPro recently started including these towels in their Finest kits, which are similar to the DI ones but I think they actually worked better, at least with the Finest jobs I`ve done..

They are now my favorite towels to remove coatings. Just used it to remove Reload and it does not load up like the suede towels.

I love the suedes for final final wipe....
The CP 16" suedes are the cats paw for the suedes.....got 1 in the coating box, picked up a 2 dozen. I like`em alot...and not just for coating
