Best metal polish?

Hi guys,



Posted on here a few weeks back - well I finally got my shipment of Zaino over from the US. Gonna apply some this weekend (if the weather here in the UK is ok - probably not! :mad: )



Quick question - I know you're meant to apply in thin coats... but how thin is thin! Any easy ways to describe it?



Also, what should I use to apply it - I have some terry and foam pads from my Zymol stuff. Are these any good? Also have a few terry towels and microfibre towels. What applicators/towels are best for which steps!?

My definition of a thin coat of Zaino: a light film that is barely visible is all that's required. If you can really see a heavy film, you're using too much and wasting product.

To apply Zaino, I've found that Foam apps work best. The coats go on much much thinner and more even than terry apps, which tend to soak up too much product.

I use 100% cotton white Royal Velvet towels for buffing. These towels are costly but are wonderful for pampering the finish.

As far as applicators go, I'm stuck for a lot of the ones you guys use as I'm in the UK. Like I say, I've got all the Zymol ones (terry pads, MF towels, foam pads). Are these ok to use?



Or I can get hold of the Meguiars ones quite easily too.



Are the applicators/towels from these manufacturers ok? Or should I really look at getting another order from the US (damn shipping costs!!)

Two cars. Mainly I bought it for my new TVR Tuscan, which is in Cosmos Blue (a mid-coloured blue).



Second car is the Mazda MX-5 I posted pics of on here before.

If you can get ahold of the Meguiar's foam apps, I would recommend that. There are quality and will work well. I just cant find them locally, so I went with the Viking foams.

I bet the Zymols are pretty good for applying.



I have used both terry, foam and MF apps abd they are all great but the foam makes it easier to apply it thin.



USe Mfs for removal or use great cotton towels...

I made a slight mistake in applying a bit too much Z-1 and Z-2 the very first times I used them. The Z-1 should just about be invisible. I noticed that it applied very, very lightly and then it sort of disappeared after a few seconds. I thought that I had used too little but nope. Less is best and yes foam pads are awesome. Laters
 
I am looking for a metal polish for well....metal.

The only metal polish I have ever used is P21S soap, never dull, and the old megs mirror glaze polish (now NXT all metal polish) but im looking for something abit better.

Mo, it's like paint. It depends on how bad it is to start. If it's bad, M105 works great on chrome. You can buff it in with a small pad for a very effective cleaner. M205 would also work on something not as bad. I use Autosol and it's a strong one. Another favourite of mine is Collinite metal polish. P21s is great for chrome that is good to start with IMO.
 
Best Metal Polish? so many and alot of them work very well is hard to say. For starters : Blackfire Metal Polish's, Optimum Metal Polish, P21S soap, Nevr-dull, Wenol Metal Polish, Flitz, Old English and many many more.

I used never-dull on some F-250 rims and on some head rest post, easy to use and clean up it good, Ill checkout collinite and OPT
 
Agreed- Meguiar's M105 and M205 are stellar metal polishes.

Aluminum, stainless, and chrome are no problem for this duo. Either liquid will REMOVE scratches from all three metals. Caution!- typical chrome plating is pretty darned thin. Don't even ask how I know.

That was some of the shiniest nickel l I've ever seen...

Once you use M105 or M205 with the D/A Microfiber Discs, you're probably going to quit buying pots of "metal" polish. I still keep some around, though. Can't seem to kick the habit. Yup. Nice, full, brand new jars of metal polish.
