Best metal flake OEM black paint?

I have a friend who is painting his Mustang to stand out over other Stangs. He wants an OEM color, so it can be touched up easily, but he does not want a Ford OEM color. He wants it to be black with good metal flake.

Any suggestions on a color and maybe what model car and year it was on would be great!

Thanks!

I can say that I love the black on the new 2006 300C's. Has a really nice metallic in it!

:lol All of the suggestions I have given him have been from Diamler Chrysler so far. The 300c, Pacifica, and the CLK Benz.

The metallic black (gold flakes in this one too) that Honda used on my...uhm..?maybe '86? CRX Si was pretty neat. The metal flake *really* jumped out at you and yet the paint looked nice and black, didn't get murky-brown looking in certain light the way some do. It'd be something different at least (and it's not by Daimler Chrysler :D ).

Ah yes, I can't remember the name, but it was used as late as 94 on civics.

There is flamenco black pearl which has like a red peal (IIRC) and also nighthawk black pearl which has blue flake in it (again IIRC). Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Look at the Subaru blacks..

Subaru offered a black metallic in '01 or '02 (I think) that had red, gold and silver flake in it . . . the red was the dominant metallic, but overall it was pretty subtle. When the car was clean and the sun hit it, all the curves and fender flares glowed faintly with an evil tint of red; very cool. I saw that paint on a Forester I detailed a couple of years ago . . . I wish I could be more specific on the model year or the name of the color.

The black/blue metallic that Subaru offered on the '02/'03 Imprezas was pretty sharp, too. For the most part, it looked black, but sun flares revealed a deep, midnight blue flake.

He had one recommendation for the Java Black. I think he was going to some Subie Dealers today and try and find one to look at in person. LOL

Thanks everyone!

Boy I wish I remembered what car it was at the auto show that had me drooling over the black paint with dark blue metallic in it. I know it was a 2006 model, and I think it might have been an Acura... but it was the prettiest black I've ever seen!

I guess it's more of a very dark steel gray, but the metallic in the Scion TC in that color wows me every time - seems like a lot of manufacturers are pouring in extra flake these days.

Flint Black Pearl is what you're talking about. They may have called it different colors from Honda to Acura but my '90 Integra was FBP. The flakes were there and really popped when the car was nice and clean but the paint was still obviously black. Nighthawk Black Pearl is another good one.

The newer Acura TL's have a nice black also. What year Mustang is it?

Unfortunately I got rid of the touch-up bottle and no longer have the paint code, but the black metallic used by Toyota on the previous generation Corolla was stunning. Absolutely loaded with metallic content. I always enjoyed the look of the finish on that little car. Their new color, "Black Sand Pearl" may be close. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

This is BMW Black Sapphire. BMW also has another color, which is one of their upgraded (more expensive) colors that I like even better. I think it's called Orient Blue maybe? It's basically black, until direct sunlight hits it, and then it's extremely dark blue.
