I myself like Ammonia and water 1cup to 1gallon cleans great and leaves no dirt catching film.

How is the smell? I assume you use the non-sudsy variety of ammonia. I like the idea.

Smoker/Jngrbrdman

The Blue Coral Dri-Clean is a foam product too. It works well and as Smoker mentioned the dirt does "rise" with the foam. I still saw "soap" residue rinsed from the mat. Of course, that residue might have been from another product I had used on previous cleanings. Have either of you ever rinsed a mat following the use of the Prestone product? Was there soap residue? Just curious.

I really would like to find something (other than an extractor) that will leave the carpets free of residue which will help with upkeep. Any more thoughts? How about consumer steam (or vapor)machines?

I do use non-sudsy ammonia Ive been doing this for years. The odor is strong while you use it but after it drys the ammonia odor is gone it also takes away the other odors. I like it because it leaves NO dirt catching film.

ammonia dries out vinyl and makes it yellow and cracked. I can post the scientific underpinnings if anyone wants to see em, but be forewarned it's long.

Woolite liquid mixed 1part woolite and 6 parts water

Yeah, I learned that from scott too. That's the solution i'll be using to clean the leather seats and the dash. This solution won't leave behind a soapy residue, will it? Do you rinse with a damp rag after cleaning the area?
