best inexpensive microfiber for daily Quick Detailing?

Nor does OCW attract dust for me either. But if your using UPGP why not just put another layer on since its a WOWO product anyways

In the summer, daily touch-free washes with my foam cannon and PW. In the winter, every-other-day coin-op touch free washes. Once a month, i follow up the coin-op touch free with a very thorough ONR wash, then an LSP application.

If he is not quintessentially autopian... :chuckle:

I have a few clients that do daily wipedows in the summer with great success using z6 and z8.

If you have embedded dirt on the car then I suggest a wash.

I have great luck with the grey mf's from Target.

They don't get marring from daily wipe downs with a QD?

+1 on the gray Vroom towels!

I would use Meguiars #34 Final Inspection..to avoid swirls... And if it is very dirty a ONR wash..

I'd sorta lean towards the second part of the above instead of the first.

I've been using #34 since forever, and I *really* like it for some things...but cleaning dirty paint without marring isn't one of them. These days there are similar products that, *IME*, do a better job- they hare more potent cleaners, better encapsulation, and greater lubricity. ONR at QD-strength and FK146 are two examples that I reach for instead of the #34.

FWIW, I can't seem to QD without marring...and I'm *VERY* careful about how I do it- Monster Fluffy MF, FK146 or ONR, minimum pressure required to keep MF in contact with paint, folding/etc. the MF as soon as it's soiled, etc. etc.

I can't imagine any way to do it better, but I inevitably end up with *some* degree of marring so now I simply don't do it. I'm nervous enough about QDing something that's never left the shop, and my shop is one *very* clean environment.

It's not just me either, I've seen such stuff happen when a *very* good pro (and member here) QDed my vehicle after just pulling it outside for a quick in-sun inspection; some tiny speck of abrasive stuff must've gotten on the paint, neither he nor I ever noticed the (extremely minor) marring until I got it in *my* shop and spent a while under *my* lights.

I agree. If it is more than a little dust then I bring out a 2 gallon sprayer with ONR. A good spray down and ONR wash takes place.

So with that in mind, how often do you wash your cars........?

If you don't touch daily dust, how long do you leave them "dusty"......?

Buy yourself some high quality microfibers, spend the money, BUT take very good care of them. They are not designed for wiping tire dressing off tires, or cleaning up mud. Keep them clean, and use a good microfiber wash and you'll be much happier than buying some cheapies. If you know that the towels are $6 each you'll take much better care of them.

Depends on the car. Something like the Jag basically gets washed almost every time it's been driven, but the drivers just get dirty/dusty between washes. I'll readily admit that I no longer treat daily life as if it were a car show.

I don't even wash the drivers weekly, but I do clean the windshields (and whatever interior stuff needs done in the dog-haulers) almost daily.

I know, more of my Autopian Heresy :o

Me too......

I had this image of you outside everyday with a water hose and I was feeling sorry for your plight.......

Thanks for clarification........:up

While I do use it for very gentle cleaning of all sorts of stuff (just used it to clean my patent leather formal shoes), I use it most often when buffing off aggressive-polish/compound residue and for cleaning my pads while doing correction. I might use it as lube for a quickie spot-claying too.

Once I tried FK146, I sorta quit using #34 for QDing in the *cleaning* sense, but in certain cases I do like that #34 doesn't leave as much stuff behind as a lot of QDs.

Heh heh, nah...not this guy :grinno: Back when I was teaching I once washed my then DD (Porsche C4) after *every* bad-weather commute for a whole semester, but sheesh, life's short enough and I look back on that as a huge waste of time.

And if you saw my shop you wouldn't have much sympathy for me, it's climate-controlled so summer/winter is all pretty much the same for me ;)

And on that note, I gotta go out and wash my wife's incredibly filthy A8!

Shine/wetness, removing dust. Maintaining the DWG + UPGP as long as possible.

for me that would be wash once a week/as needed

follow that with 425 and once a month follow the wash with AW

in place of the 425

Autogeek has a 15% and free shipping right now, so I wanted to take advantage of that sale.. which MF's do you recommend there?

As for daily QD'ing.. i know i shouldn't. But I have a silver bmw 550 and where my office is, there's a lot of gravel trucks, dirt road nearby that create a dusty environment. I'm washing every weekend, or sometimes every other weekend with ONR. My white Audi Q7 is the same, but not as dirty daily.

I like a clean car, and just dont' have the time to pull out a bucket and wash the car multiple times a week. I like QD'ing maybe every other day and wash every 2 weeks.

I'm looking for the ultimate balance of time and cleanliness. QD;ing for 45-60 seconds in the morning is better for me then 15 -20 minutes on a full wash.

The last detail I did was 4 months ago, using Menzerna SIP, then ultima PGP. I usually do use duragloss aquawax after every wash as well.

I currently am using chemical guys slick QD and when that runs out, i think i'll switch to ONR quick detail solution, or even try the optimum instant detailer and gloss enhancer.

I like to keep 6 or 7 microfiber towels in my trunk, just wondering what's better than the costco ones. Thanks for the sams club recommendations, but I don't have sams club :) Which from Autogeek would you recommend?

Car Care Microfiber Towels, Microfiber dusters and microfiber Detailing tools

Thanks!

I like my Orange Vroom towels from Target (wish they would change them to blue though). They're especially great if you can get the Buy 2 for $8 deal :)

Same here but I am fine with the orange color.
