Best Followup to DACP???

Hello all, I’m having a little trouble deciding on what would be the best follow up to #83 DACP.

I spent most of the day last Saturday polishing out the swirls from my black Acura 3.2 CL-S, and I must say that I am pretty happy with what I was able to accomplish with the PC and a polishing pad along with the DACP. After I finished polishing the car I tried to use some Deep Crystal #2 polish with a polishing pad to really bring out the shine and gloss, but I found that removing the DC2 was VERY hard. It took me almost 40 minutes to just do the hood. I had to rub so hard that I could feel the metal start to give a little as I was rubbing. Now I was inside and in the shade when I was doing this, so the surface was cool, so I am not sure what I could have been doing wrong here. After I did the hood I pretty much just gave up on the DC#2 and gave the whole car a coat of NXT.

I have been searching for a long time here for some recommendations for a follow up to the DACP that will really bring out the gloss and depth of the paint. I feel that while the DACP did a great job of removing the swirls it didn’t leave the finish as glossy as it could be.

So I was thinking of either getting #81, or trying some #9 followed by some #7 (with a final coat or NXT). What products are easiest to use with a PC? What will give me the best result on my black paint?

Any opinions are welcome. Thanks for reading my novel!

:)

P.S. I have local access to most of Meguiar's products, so that is why I have been leaning that way as far as products go. But I'd be inturested in other options as well!

Yea, I removed the polish right away. The DACP came off without a problem, but I like the DC #2 was a total PITA. I still have some lite streaks from trying to rub it off.

I've tried the same thing before. I uses DACP, then went to Deep Crystal polish, and it was very hard to remove.

I've used #9 on a polishing pad after using DACP on a cutting pad and got some pretty good results.

Meguiars #7 is even harder to remove than Deep crystal polish. I'm waiting on VM right now to come in, then will try it as a follow up to DACP.

Thanks for the tip on #7 as I almost got that. I still can't figure out how DC#2 could be so tough to get off. I didn’t let it dry on. I put it on a small area and wiped off immediately. I used it in the shade on a cool surface. I just couldn’t get good results. Oh well.

I noticed that Scottwax seems to use VM quite a lot. I know that HE isn’t spending 40min per panel! Please keep me posted on how it works for you.

I usually follow up DACP with #82. Works pretty well and no problems with removing it. :up

And now for something completely different...

I can't believe I'm posting this... here's my prescription, primarily for black cars. But, hey, if it works on black, well..

After using Meg's DACP, Speed Glaze, etc., follow it with AutoMagic's #71 GS-1. (PC #5, slowly, monitored with halogen lighting). Wipe with 50/50 ISO, and follow with Klasse AIO. Klasse SG (x2). Wait another 24 hours, add S100.

There. That's as good as it gets.

After DACP with a cutting pad, change to a polish pad and use Megs #80.

For more depth on black, you could use Menzerna FP, but seeing your using a PC, you may want to use Clearkote VM.

Doubt me?

Scottwax black pics

Go and see Scottwax's latest pics on some black finishes. Most were done with VM as a glaze. There are many glazes and some work better than others on black. It's how you use them that gets results. Too much and you end up with the problem you described, too hard to remove. Use a glaze as it was worth $$$$. A little goes a long way. Use a finish pad as well when doing glazes.

Top it with EX and Souveran and you have one deep, wet and shiny black finish!

Deanski

I did my black Super Duty the day before yesterday. Used the DACP with PC, then followed with #7 Show Car glaze. Topped it with NXT. It looked good, but I wasn't real happy. It rained yesterday, so I rinsed it this morning and put a coat of Gold Class Carnuaba on top of the NXT and now I am :bounce HAPPY. The thing looks soaking wet and deep dark.

You could go with Menzerna FPII, it works better with the PC than FP. If you want a pure glaze try Menzerna FTG. Both are very very deep and reflective.

I got a bunch of pics in my gallery of it, see my sig below.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I have been hearing #80 over and over so since I can just run to the store and get most of meguiars stuff here locally I may have to try that next.

My next decision would have to be what to try AFTER the #80. :p

I am really thinking about getting some of the VM because of the fact that I have seen and heard such good things about it. That or perhaps I will try #81 and see how that works.

#80 is a great follow up but..to me if you are following it up with DACP and experience hazing, i wouldn't use it. Seeings that #80 is still a little agressive it never did take the hazing from DACP out. Im going to tryout #9 since i hear it does really well on DACP hazing

I've followed DACP with #80 and I'd advise you not to do so unless you are going to use even another polish after it. From doing side by side tests on my car I've found that #80 looks great until you use #9 or FP II beside it. I've found FP II to be the best on the cars I've done but #9 is still very good.

Sorry for the dely in getting back to you.

Yes, FP is very easy to use. If you think it is starting to dry out, just apply a little more to the pad or spritz the surface with EO W&S. I have always worked it until it "dusts" (or becomes virtually transparent or invisible on the paint). I have found it wipes off very easily and the MF literally squeeks on the paint. The thing I like most (actually there are two) is that it burnishes the paint to a high gloss and the other part is that it is water based and will remove any fillers/oils/waxed from previous polishes.
