Best Filling wax

I have a F 150 with a hammered paint that the client wants a light polish and place a filling wax over it, I mean this paint is hammered, I have no experience with fillers, what is the best out there? I plan to hit it with 105 and 205 and then place the wax over this. I have done a test spot and the clear is in terrible shape, the more you polish the worse it looks. This has been so neglected over the years it is a shame. Oh and of course it is black.

If you only want a filling wax, Bilt Hamber Auto Balm and Banana Gloss are very good at filling. If, however, you want a filling glaze, Autoglym SRP, Poorboy's Black Hole, Prima Amigo are all very good fillers as well.

I've had great results using Prima Amigo and Banana Gloss; and found that the filling property was pretty dramatic.

Some semi-filler spray waxes would include OCW and Prima Hydra in case you wanted to maintain some of the concealing properties.

These are just products I've used and had good results with; I'm sure there are more to choose from. :cooleek:

Hope that helps.

If you are going to use 105 then 205 I find it hard to believe it still looks terrible. That is a hell of a good combo when used right. Why would you do a two step on it if your test spot made it look worse than what you started with? If the client wants a light polish and wax why are you using 105 on it? What pads and machine are you using on it?

I did a black 96 S10 that always sits outside in Illinois weather and has never ever been thru a car wash or waxed or vacuumed and turned out good.

From this to this. This was my first time I used the 105/205 combo also.

Post some pics so we can see what you are dealing with if you can.

Polish with #66 or D151 (both fill really well), then Megs #9 and then follow with 476 or #16, great combo for hammered paint.

96 F 150 with paint "cracking" beneath the clear, looks almost like "speckles" on the paint, not to mention all the orange peel from a bad respray. The truck has never seen wax or been washed regularly. It is truly a shame.

I would honestly tell the customer "I don't do that". Either offer a full correction at x dollars, or offer a slight correction at x dollars. At least if you don't correct it 100%, it won't look awful after the first wash, and the customer will feel like it wasn't worth the money.

Unfortunately it is for a friend of the family. I am talking to his wife, she wants to do something but, I am trying to talk her into just a quick polish to get some gloss back and then a wax over that. I think she will go for that. And honestly no I don't want my name on that, but she is my wife's best friend so what can you do? Advice: don't mix friends, family and business.

I have used Zaino in the past and the bottle indicates it has some filling capabilities (Z5) but I have not seen any to speak of.

Agreed, I never saw it fill anything, though it didn't amplify swirls nearly as bad as Z2.

So just to confirm, Tech Wax 2.0 seems to be a popular filler amongst the autopia crowd?

For something off the shelf, yeah. I love Meg's products, but their current sealants/waxes are very lackluster, just middle of the road stuff. If you need off the shelf, get TW Platinum, it fills as well, might last longer and doesn't stain trim.

That sounds like clear coat failure, does anyone else agree?

If I am correct, that cannot be filled. You either have the car repainted or learn to live with it.

I haven't not tried many waxes for their filling ability, but out of curiosity, I applied NXT 2.0 over a panel compounded with a 4 ply twisted wool and some 'rocks in a bottle' compound. NXT 2.0 filled about 80-90%!

can Banana Gloss be topped with a sealer such as BFWD? Or would BFWD need to be topped with BG? Or is neither possible? lol

id like to use BG for its filling ability but I still want to use BFWD for its durability

It most certainly is failure of the clear, So I am looking to not polish so aggressively so as to not make it so noticeable and use a filling wax to cover swirls that do not come out. I do not like doing something like this but again she is my wife's best friend so I going out on a limb for her. Just will not be handing out any cards or anything.
