Can anyone help me get the best mitt before saturday? I'm a little leary of the microfiber mits with only a little nap on black paint.

Does anyone know a site I can get a great mitt on prior to this weekend, I am in MA.

P.S. total newb question, but when applying wax/polish, do you use back and forth motions, not swirls, and what is the best applicator?

Also, what is the best thing to remove the polish/wax with? Microfiber also using back and forth motions?

Thank you!

I would use a sheepskin mitt myself. You can get a decent one at WalMart. They are the Eurow brand. I have one and they are pretty decent.

You should be able to get a good cotton chenille mitt from a local store like Target, autozone, pep boys, etc. I have used the Viking mitts in the past with good results. I think Target sells essentially the same mitt under the name Baja Sol or something to that effect.

I'll third that. I've observed true 100% cotton chenille mitts can be quite hard to find locally. I have seen one labeled as such at a Boaters World. I believe that's the only time I ever saw a chenille mitt locally labeled as such.

I don't think you will be able to find it at a retail store by this weekend, but I use the Viking 100% cotton mitt. I have seen a different Viking mitt at some car supply stores but I believe that they are labeled "chenille". These may not be 100% cotton.

Sheepskin mitt. Target or Wal-Mart or O'Reilly can satisfy your needs.

I'm not impressed with the VROOM sheepskin from Target. I bought one and found it had all sorts of lumps, bumps and even some bristly, seedlike things buried deep in the fur. :werd: :nervous2: I like the Turtle Wax sheepskin at Pep Boys. No foreign manner, nice and smooth throughout and they've held up well after many washings and rinsings.

I don't think we have O'Reilly here. Never heard of that store. I've heard good things about the Wal Mart mitts but for some reason our local Walmart doesn't sell sheepskin mitts! :werd:

I don't know if my one problem with the Target VROOM mitts were just an anomaly but I thought I'd give a heads up. There was another person here who had a problem with their chenille mitts falling apart so perhaps it has something to do with the quality of their washmitts in general.

One person here says that getting a good sheepskin mitt is like shopping for fruit in that you have to go through them all and pick the best one. You can have 10 mitts and only two will "pass muster". That has been my experience as well. :)

:D

For the sake of doing so, last Sunday I went through all 20 Eurows on the shelf at Wal-Mart and narrowed them down to only two that I would consider "passable" for use on lower body moldings.

My last "big run" of sheepskin mittts was last winter and at that time they sure seemed more plush in general. Might have something to do with the actual sheep's skins that time of year :nixweiss:

I used to like the Eurow mitts, but now i use Meguiars new Ultra Plush Wash Mitt, and i like it alot better. It holds more water, no thumb and it dries much faster.
