Best combo for single stage paint when using a PC

Hey, guys.

I have a concours level detail coming up on a 1965 Shelby GT350. The paint is single stage, and it's in VERY good condition. It isn't going to take a lot of correcting, but I wanted to know what's the best combo when using a PC. I was thinking about Megs #80, since it's probably only going to need to be one-stepped.

yes 80 is a good choice

IMO SS paints like Meg's trade secret oils, oil based glazes(meg's, RMG, ect)

and good old nuba

I also agree with Meguiar's #80 and #7 topped with a nice carnuba like #16 (If you have it) or #26. Can't go wrong with those classics...

I think Megs #80 is a good choice. For the carnuba I would say go with SurLuster if you can get your hands on some. A few coats of that stuff looks awesome on ss paint.

I'm thinking about going with #80 on a 4" white LC pad, followed by Ultrafina on a blue/red 4" pad, and then top it with P21S 100%. I also have Megs #16 on hand as well.

Thoughts?

By PC I would stick the ultrafina... M80 will finish out nice enough and it has the same oils as #7, so you are killing two birds in one stone. I would wipe it off and go straight to the P21s :D

So, just one-step it with #80, and forget the UF? Gotcha.

Thanks, Todd. I'll be giving you a call this week....Have a question about a 550 Maranello I'll be working on in the next month or so.

Thanks, Wade. I do have some PS on hand....

This thing will blow your mind...Like I said, I've never seen anything like it personally.

I've used Poliseal on SS paint and it worked very well. I cant wait for the pics of this one.

You better post up a ton of pics!

Hahaha...Yes, sir.

It will not be an in-depth detail, but I will post a lot of pics. This thing is so close to perfect. Other than the polishing/waxing, it'll just be wiping the dust off of the thing.

Well...I just found out today that the car isn't single stage after all....It's base clear. I just talked to guy who painted it.

Oh well....back to the drawing board.

Thanks for everyone who responded. At least I have some good information for the first single stage I do.
