Best Carpet Cleaner?

I really love Folex. Does anyone know where I can buy a larger size of it? Something like a gallon jug would be good. All I can ever find is the 32 oz. (?) spray bottle size at Lowe's.

Some people have said Target and Wal-Mart carry it as well in the floor cleaning section. I just found it yesterday at my lowes in the gallon jug...doesnt it suck that it varys from store to store - good luck :wavey I used it today on my brothers carpet in his house , it is awesome!

What product for auto carpet cleaning would be a great choice? I will be using a carpet extractor also(Aztec). Some brand names I have read about includes 303 Carpet cleaner, Chemspecs Express Lane, Matrix and Prochems. Suggestions?

I'm going to be controversial. :LOLOL

If you've ever used carpet shampoo or cleaners in your carpet before, you probably have more than enough cleaner embedded in the carpet already. Go ahead and use the extractor, but use plain water. Not only will the cleaner embedded in the carpet be "activated" by the water, and pull out the dirt, you'll end up with less cleaner residue attracting dirt in the future.

Hey? What have you got to loose? It's free, so if it doesn't work, you're not out any money! Just a little time is all.

If the water doesn't work, add a little Oxy-clean or (never mix! Mixing cleaners can be dangerous) or a little APC that you have laying around. However, test first in an inconspicous spot (under seat, etc) to ensure the carpet is colorfast.

Good luck!

Here is some a FAQ I found on the folex website:

What makes FOLEX different from other spot and stain removers?

FOLEX has been formulated specifically to remove virtually any spot and stain from any colorfast carpet or material that can be safely dampened with water. FOLEX achieves these amazing results without using solvents or other hazardous chemicals.

Will FOLEX attract dirt back to the cleaned area?

No. FOLEX is Non-Ionic (it has neither a positive or negative electrical charge) so FOLEX will not attract dust or dirt back to the cleaned area. And because FOLEX does not contain oily solvents, or leave a soapy residue, the spots will not come back.

Will FOLEX remove old stains?

Yes. As long as the stains have not dyed or bleached the carpet or material.

Will FOLEX remove the factory applied stain resistant treatment from my carpet?

No. Because FOLEX contains no petroleum distillates, or other organic solvents, it will not remove stain resistant chemicals properly applied at the time of manufacture.

What carpets or materials should FOLEX not be used on?

FOLEX should not be used on any carpet or material that could be damaged by water. You should always test a hidden area of a carpet or material for color fastness and color stability with FOLEX, before using FOLEX on a visible area.

What spots or stains will FOLEX not completely remove?

If the carpet or material has been Dyed, FOLEX can help by removing the excess dyeing substance from the carpet or material, but it will not change the color back. For example, some red drinks, yellow mustard, and hair dye, (if left on too long) will permanently change the color of the carpet or material. The key is to get to these types of stains as quickly as possible, so that FOLEX can remove them before they permanently change the color of the carpet or material.

Will my children and pets be safe playing in areas cleaned with FOLEX?

Yes. FOLEX is non-toxic, completely non-irritating to normal skin, requires no ventilation, and will not break down into dangerous byproducts.

Mirachem found my post about NOW cleaner, and sent me two 1 gallon bottles of their MiraClean APC (all purpose cleaner)!

It arrived just in time, too, because my wife hurt her foot and got blood on the carpet. We used the MiraClean on the stains, by brushing, and the product removed the blood.

EDIT: I looked a the package that arrived. Although the Mirachem rep promised me two bottles, I received FOUR bottles! My wife opened the case before I had a chance to see inside. I walked by the case the other day, and saw three more bottles inside. Sweet. If you're reading, Mirachem, thanks!

I too use Folex, love that stuff kept me from having to do full shampoos on many occasions. Looked in a car thought to myself ahh gonna have to shampoo that with the extractor, went to spot clean first before the full extraction and was like well hot dog I don't need to. Customers sware I shampoo their stuff when I scrub with the Folex.

No I'm not a folex spokes person :p .

Well, just so you guys know . . . I went to two different Home Depots, a Wal-Mart, a Target, and a Lowe's looking for the gallon size of Folex. Didn't find the gallon size anywhere (in fact Lowe's was the only place that had Folex at all).

I sent an email to Folex and they stated they would sell me the gallon size directly, but instead I asked my uncle who lives about 40 minutes away if he could check the Lowe's near him. Of course, they had the gallon size and we were getting together to detail his wife's car anyway. So, he brought the Folex with him. I think if I had bought the gallon directly from Folex they wanted $25 and at Lowe's it was $16.

I think I may have introduced Sean to Folex. ;) In any event it's a great product that I am glad many here discovered.

Yes, Folex is an excellent product indeed. BUT, I find it only marginally effective at cleaning upholstery seating. As a SPOT remover, I have yet to find anything like it (thanks Sean and Silverlexus for telling Sean). But I was hoping this thread was for actually shampoos. Basically, when I use the Folex on "spray," it is not that effective for cleaning large areas of upholstery. Maybe some help or product suggestions for larger areas?
