Best car wash? Which to chose?

I second the NXT recommendation for OTC. EO Wet has earned much praise here on Autopia as well. GC is great as well.

I really like Pinnacle's car wash for a boutique (it's pricey but VERY nice to use) and 1Z Perls is nice too, although the Sonus car wash reminds me a lot of it. It's also hard to beat Z7. Don't forget the QEW. The P21S didn't do much for me as I really like a high lubricity.

I lost interest in trying Pinnacle some time because I read it can actually compromise Souveran or other LSPs :nixweiss

Yeah, P21s didn't seem very slick, more ideal for doing a "refresher wash".

I just bought some TW Platinum Ultra Gloss. I've only used it once, but it seems to work well. Nice, thick rich suds.

Anyone else try this stuff ?

I'm wondering if Pinnacle made some changes to their car wash. With a 1 oz.:3 gallon water dilution ratio, it has a a neutral pH. I have not noticed it compromising Souveran on my car though it is not my regular wash (I choose depending on what I want to smell ;) ).

I didn't really notice any deterioration of my current LSP (Wolfgang sealant) after a wash with Pinnacle. The only other LSP I've used it with is Souveran, and surely it removed the oils left behind (wouldn't any car wash though?) but there was still the same depth and shimmer Souveran provides even after a couple of washes with Pinnacle. A quick refresher with Crystal Mist solved the slickness problem.

Souveran certainly isn't noted for its durability. I bet #16 or even P21S would be less affected by the Pinnacle car wash. I must say I haven't noticed it being any more harsh on an LSP than other washes I have tried, BUT my car is rarely dirty enough to need to use any car wash full strength. I mostly just wash to remove dust and finger prints.

Another vote for EO Wet. It's easy to find OTC, it's cheap, it suds well (although that really doesn't mean much for some people), and has gotten much love by fellow Autopians. For all these reasons this is my go-to wash.

Griot's. All I use unless I just *have* to smell the Pinnacle when I wash the Jag (for old time's sake). I have no complaints/criticisms of the Griot's at all.

But the Pinnacle is too harsh for me (on *any* LSP). Haven't tried any new batches of it, but I did use if for years before moving on to other stuff. A bit pricey too, at least if you go through gallons of wash as quickly as I do.

The Meg's #62 isn't bad, and is probably what I'd use if I couldn't get Griot's.

I have 2 bottles of Sonax left and treat it like liquid gold since you can't get it here anymore :(

The boutique washes for me :down :down

Meguiar's Gold Class and Meguiar's #62 is all I use :up :up

We have TONS of Sonax products here in Australia.... if you coulc hook me up with Zaino, I will hook you up with Sonax

This question is really for people who have used Duragloss Car wash concentrate.

Is duragloss better than Megs Gold Class car Wash and the NXT Wash???

I have only used Duragloss as my shampoo and never tried any other car wash. I want to know if The Gold class and NXt can Rival the duragloss car wash???

Duragloss is more expensive , so i'm guessing there should be a reason for that. After using Duragloss, is it worth going into Gold class and NXt is basically what i wanna know.

I didn't like NXT. I found it lacking in lubrication and it didn't prevent water spots like it claims. Gold Class isn't bad I use it on wheels and wells. Duragloss is much better than both. It doesn't get mentioned much here but the people who have tried it really like it. It's lubrication is excellent. Cleans well without stripping the LSP. It is also excellent at water spot prevention. Best car wash I have used. Here is a list of what I have tried.

Megs Gold Class

Megs NXT

Megs Soft Wash Gel

Megs Deep Crystal

Megs Rich Suds

Mothers California Gold

Eagel One Car Wash

P21S Car Wash

and some more I can't think of right now.

Steve,

Your words are more than enough for me to stick with Duragloss. I feel the sameway about its lubricity. it also makes my car really shine just by washing. Thanx for the advice!!!

Four Star ultimate

(the smell is great, suds up well, paint stays slick and being ph7, it doesn't compromise LSP's)

1Z perls

(bit more slickness and shine but didn't suds up at all when using it on the mitt.

might have more wettening agents in it than four star

Pinnacle - didn't like - ph too high and made paint rough

EO wet shampoo - not bad for an OTC product, a better choice for those who buy from retailers

Am waiting for a box of clearkote car wash, will be interesting to see how that goes

Adams shampoo I want to try but shipping cost to australia is bad through their UPS who they deal with

Also have OPTIMUM on order

Other good ones are detailers pride and eimann fabrik
