Story:
Today, I went to Great Lakes Dragway in Union Grove, WI to watch a few of the Maximas I know run. For the most part, the runs were pretty decent but I was paying a lot of attention to the other cars that were running.
One of my favorite cars that ran was a Lexus SC 300 with a TT Supra Motor that was ran a best of 10.4 in the quarter. Right behind that was one of two black '71 Chevelles that ran 10s in the quarter consistently and did a lot of wheelstands.
However, one of the strongest runners of the day was a yellow Z06 Corvette. This car was running 11-12 second quarters consistently. At any rate, I was in the parking lot talking with one of the WI Maxima owners about MFs and other detailing goodies when I heard the most hellacious bang. I turned around and saw a large plume of black smoke and some flame. Pretty soon, a crowd of folks ran over to the track to see what was going on.
End result:
Apparently, the driver sprayed too soon and the nitrous went kaboom.
