Best bang for the buck products

still worth it, as some charge over $5 a piece for their towels (which still aren't as nice)...

Exactly right.

And Al, don't think that I have forgot: you are the one who got me to try my two biggest "bang for the buck" detailing products! :hifive:

I'm starting to develop my own "gratitude" list as well, Spoiled Man, Big Al, Accumulator, Scottwax, Integrity Detail and many others. Thanks guys!

I think folks are getting away from the nature of the thread. Best bang for the buck?

Hands down for me is Meguiar's APC. I can clean every interior surface diluted at various mixes so an $11.25 gallon lasts forever. I can clean plastic, vinyl, carpet, leather, head liner and glass. I have ditched every specialty / boutique interior product except for a protectant for leather and vinyl.

Next up for me are Collinite waxes. 845IW on a properly prepped surface is right up there with the boutiques.

My 2 favorites are Collinite IW and Optiseal. Collinite Insulator wax on a prepped surface is like a layer of tough glass. Optiseal is a great topper and it works very nice on grained vinyl. There are many other products I like but for the money these two shine.

Bilt Hamber Auto Clay - only uses water as a lube, so saves money on a QD for the purpose and also therefore doesnt need another wash afterwards, saving time and money again, and oh yes, its the cheapest clay bar I can find g for g :D

MarkV Mystique polish - cheap, dont need much and can be used for compounding, light correction and final finishing :)

Much as I like FK425, I never considered it a bang-for-$ product, in part because, well, I never paid much attention to how much it costs compared to other such products.

But also because I sorta consider QDs like that to be optional. If I were working within a tight detailing budget, I'd just skip products like FK425 altogether.

My vote goes to the Collinite waxes, and also Meg's #16 if you can still find it. A tin of #16 lasts me around a *decade*, in part because I can apply it so thin (can't seem to quite do the same with 476S...that wax lasts longer, but the *can* of wax doesn't last *as long*).

there are quite a few, but after using it again today... DG Aquawax (also using FK425 in between) is one of those items that will be in my arsenal for quite some time. i love this stuff!

Hi-Temp tire cleaner at TOTL. 16 bucks makes 2 gallons, great stuff.

:werd:, can't believe I didn't mention this one. And for $25, you can buy 2 gallons of product, which makes 4 gallons of an amazingly effective tire cleaner. Use it on wells, too, to get them concours clean.

Collinite IW and 476S, awesome quality wax in both looks and durability for the $$$

Duragloss 105, such an awesome sealant for only 10.00!

Eurow Sheepskin mitts, only 5.00 and will last an entire season

AA Foam, about 2.80 at walmart and has multiple uses

as others have said Megs APC (esp when diluted)

Clay Magic Blue, Autozone has it for 10.99 with lube

Ultima PGP, when used as directed costs so little per application, I've done 6 applications and my 4oz bottle is more than 3/4 full!

Optimum has many products that are cost effective, I've used the car wash soap, ONR, polishes, tire shine and the protectant plus, and the Opti-seal looks like my next sealant purchase.
