Best Backing Plate?

I read Griots magazine and he claims that his velcro flexible backing plate dissapates heat better than other backing plates due to the holes around the plate. The holes are the only difference I can detect when comparing photos of his plates compared to others . What plate would be the best for a PC using LC pads?

LC makes some, these are the same/very similar to those sold by Autopia Car Care, Excel, CMA, Autogeek, etc. (I'm referring to the yellow flexible ones). Those are all good. I think the Griot's one is just the standard Porter Cable backing plate. IMO I'd stay away from the Meguiar's; myself and others have melted these. DISCLAIMER: The preceding comment about the Meg's backing plate is my opinion only, and is not meant to disparage the quality of said product or dispute that others may have had good results from it.

All the backing plates I have are off the yellow flexi plate type, have no real reason to try anything else as they work fine.

I too like the flexible yellow plates. Not that they really flex all that much ;)

Heh heh, Richard Griot and his marketing BS...those holes aren't to "dissipate heat", they're for use with a certain type of similarly-holed sandpaper sheets. The holes let the sanding dust go into the collection system. Dissipate heat when polishing with the PC

They are speed holes!!! They make it spin faster! haha. But yea I have the propel 5inch plate and 3.5 inch plate from autopia. Both work well.
