Besides Lemon Pledge what else do I need?

I never knew Lemon Pledge could detail so much of a car...

On my favorite oil site, there is a thread where everyone is talking about how great their car battery, engine compartment, motorcycles, cars, interior plastics, seats, bumpers, aircraft plexiglass windshields and on and on looks. I guess that's OK.

It's spooky...they love Nu-Finish too. It's like the Beverly Hillbillies car detailers site. The do know oil, grease, chemicals....



I've been wasting my money on detailing supplies all these years.

New list for '05:



Dish sponge (scratchy sided kind for the bugs and tar removal)

old cotton underwear and T-Shirt (detail clothes and applicators)

80% Cotton drying towel with Yodas or John Deere logo on it

paper towels (reinforced kind from dollar store)

Generic window cleaner (plastic, vinyl, carpet stains and glass)

Dawn (it's OK 'cause I'm out of Fast Orange)

Nu-Finish (Cleans and protects...one full year)

Lemon Pledge ("topper","quick detailer" and "bug clean up", etc.)

Bacon grease (tires).

Garlic (air freshener, vampire insurance)

One gallon jug of Grandma's secret recipe (detailer lube)



Am I forgetting anything? :confused:
 
Don't forget some Quaker State to gloss up the tires (more consistent finish compared to bacon grease), Armor All for the interior to shine up (use on pedals and steering wheel too but skip this step if safety is a concern), ScotchBite for shining up your metal parts. For quality control, get yourself a pen laser to shoot at the paint to determine if NuFinish needs to be reapplied. Don't forget using old film to protect your eyes from the intense light.

Since the mods moved this thread to it's correct Forum AND I see you have 3 posts I'll answer this seriously, just in case you ARE confused. People ARE using Pledge. I would not use it. If your not confused...jokes on me.:up

If you don't have Quaker State I guess Mag 1 or Coastal oil would work, but don't mean to flame on your QS.



AND, what if all one has is "Old Spice" body powder? Is that talc like enough?
 
Don't forget the kerosene wipedown!:bounce Makes the paint reeeeal shiny!

If using Nu-Finish, lighter fluid and a match will best test the remaining protection if you never marked your calendar as to when you applied the wonder product. I suggest stopping by Jiffy Lube to pick up a "Last Serviced" cling especially for the Nu-Finish.



I use Pam for the tires currently, but if you were to use motor oil, I'd suggest either High Mileage or fully synthetic for durability.



Glass and surface cleaner from Windex will work as a glass cleaner and QD.
 
Haha... that reminds me of how my friend takes care of his gs300... he thinks windex cleans and shines everything (including paint, chrome rims, interior, etc), I hope he doesn't hear about pledge.
 
Tires with bacon grease on them with never need scrubbing. All the dogs in the area will keep them licked clean.
