Benefits of foam gun

So what are they? I have never used a foam gun but read about it here and everyone says they're great. I'm just wondering what do you use it for? Don't you still have to wash the car afterwards like you usually would? I'm not talking s@%& about it I just dont know what its for really. People use it and let it sit for like 15 min or so, does that help? I have read about them on here but dont really understand the purpose. ONCE AGAIN NOT TALKING S@%$ ABOUT THEM, JUST DONT UNDERSTAND THEM. thanks

Foam guns are just another method of washing. The main benefits of using a foam gun are for added lubrication so that you don't marr or swirl your paint. I start off by foaming the entire car so that the foam and cleaning action in the soap will start loosening the dirt. Then I wash each panel one at a time with the foamgun. The pre-foam is simply to loosen some of the dirt/grime. Then I foam each panel and wash it with my SchMitt...If you're planning to save time by using the foam gun, then you're getting it for the wrong reasons. I use it so I even further minimize my chances of marring my paint. Once I do a full detail job on a vehicle, I try to avoid having to do that again. The foamgun allows me to do that.

I hope this answers your question.

after you foam the entire car, you use it to wash panel by panel....did you rinse off the foam and then when you go to wash each panel re foam the panels or did you just leave it on there and go panel to panel?

Like mcnab said, think of it as different way to wash. Reason for it can be to speed up your washing (depending on how you wash). It can be also to miniminze your chance of marring. Or it can be to make it easier on your back (which person with injured back might appreciate). Pick your reason. If you don't have one then you don't need one.

I only use my foam gun when my car is really dirty. I just foam the entire car and let it sit awhile to lift the dirt, then just rinse it off. Afterwards I just wash my car normally with the 2 bucket meathod.

I do exactly like efinirx7gt does. Use it primarily after winter, early spring when car is dirtiest.

Rinse car, foam it using NXT auto wash, let it dwell out of sunlite 5-10 mins, rinse it again, wash car with bucket/soap, dry.
