Bence's Fault: FK 1000P

So far I have used both Pink Wax and FK1000 on different sections of our cherry red metallic lookin' Oldsmobile. I quite enjoy these ones on metallics, haven't tried darks yet though.

The dirt shedding is great though, I remember Bences thread comparing one of them to something that started with an S... can't remember what it was but how the FK side was much cleaner upon just rinsing off the loose material. I find this true when looking at the car after a rain.

Pink Wax has surprised me with it's durability as well, it's been on for at least a month now and it's not dead, and this is with improper washing by the old man as well (IE. 1 wash a week tops).

Between these things and the Werkstat line, I guess Collonite will be sent to dark + durability status.

Can PW and the 1000p be used together . eg I have 215 AIO , followed by 2x 1000p , if I would use PW to change out the look once in a while and still hit 1000p from time to time would there be any issues with bonding ?

Also during the winter months hitting it frequently w/fx100 on top should be ok too , correct ?

Im know FX100 is labeled as a spray glaze , but to me it seems more like a wax , it has polymers resin, inorganic and organic waxes (what ever that is) and does offer protection. No not like PW or 1000p I know , but still.

The purpose of a glaze is basically to add depth before LSP , correct ? But this product seem to also be an LSP or booster to one. I've had a section on the 4runner that I just did a 215 AIO and only used FX100 after washing and it seemed to held up really well as any of the spray waxes out there if not better

Hey, it's green!

now Bence, you gotta reveal what products and steps you did to get the result in the 2nd pic.... very very nice

hey Bence, do you know if pink wax and 1000p can be layered together?

as in this week i use 1000p, then next week pink wax, then week after 1000p , etc.

Yes, they can be used together. I'd suggest to try different combinations to see which looks best for you. But technically, always best to have the most durable layer as a base.

I know you've directed this question to Bence, but I've alternated layers of 1000p & Pink Wax with no problems at all. It's a great all around combo to use. Although, I have yet to apply 1000p over any product "heavy" in oils, as I'm always concerned with compatability issues. Conventional thinking, I guess. Recently, I got out my PC & polished my black paint with Optimum Polish. Followed that up with some Poli Seal before apllying a layer of 1000p. No issues to speak of. I even used a hybrid QD mixture of 40% CG Extreme Synthetic QD, 40% #425, and 20% AW for wipedowns between product applications. (final wipedown as well) IMO, 1000p seems to be a pretty user friendly-not to finicky sealant and holds up well.

I rinse the applicator with water and squeeze it out. Spray with Fk425 and get to work.

That's how I apply all my waxes. I use a QD during the application process. The 425 allows for thin, even coats and when I buff off, I use spritz with 425 too. Sort of like a pseudo spit shine technique.

oddly enough when this thread started i had already pulled the trigger and ordered 1000p, pink wax, and 425, i've been wanting to try these products for a long time and finally put the order in and then i read this thread which made me all the more confident that i had made a good purchase, you really can't beat the price of fk's products, but anyway i put on two coats today on clean polished paint and just as you guys said it's like a thicker clearcoat or candy apple. i'm really impressed with the results, i'm almost afraid to put the pink wax over it as i can't imagine it improving the look any more but i'll give it a try tomorrow. this stuff sure deserves more press imo. i also wiped down with 425 between coats and misted my foam applicator with it so it would spread more easily, very easy to work with easy on off.:2thumbs:

cool , let us know how you go with the pink wax.

whether the pink wax will make the 1000p look better or worse ?

i've got 1000p too , but not the pink wax.

wonder if its worth considering to do inter layering (if possible)

I have 2x 1000p right now , but I think if you put PW over it and you didn't like it you could put 1000p back over it correct ?

well I just couldnt leave it, and added a layer of FK1000 over my aging Zaino on the Saab as well

looks awesome, but even better I got to try my new sample of FK425, and that stuff is superb as well :D I've left a few test areas to see if the 425 makes any observable differences in dirt pick-up this week, as I'm doing quite a few miles.

I also have PW to try, but like others havent wanted to top the 1000 yet. I'll do a panel next wash, and that will leave my car wearing FK1000, PW, Vintage, Royale and Supernatural. Will make interesting watching as we head into winter...

Thanks, Casey (and everyone else) :)

LoL, yeah, poor Greg... I teased him pretty hard about putting 1000p over the RMG.

Looks like you guys have the application process all sorted out now. I've used foam and MF applicators by hand, and red 4" pads by PC. PC (or some flavor of DA) is definitely the time saver. It also seems that it cures quicker when it's applied by DA. Dunno why. Maybe the friction/heat of the DA, but it really does save cure time. I wait until the stuff is really dry before removal. Someone asked how a thicker layer will affect the removal process. It certainly doesn't *help* to have a thick coat, but it's not gonna punish you for it the way Collinite 476S would. Just takes a bit more elbow grease. If you apply it with a PC, you're almost guaranteed to not put on too much.

*Sigh* looks like *I'm* not done ordering FK products, either. Bence just *had* to talk about Pink Wax, dint he? ;) Ah well, spring's not *too* far away, right?

I'm highly offended by these comments and resemble them fully!

Cheers,

GREG
