They may have saved you money on the work, but they screwed up the paint because of their own neglegence. I would present the problem to them politely and ask if they can help you out in any way. Make sure you let them know that you appreciate how they helped you out in cost, but be sure to also let them know that damage to your vehicle with no compensation will not be accepted.

Yep Yep

I actually have a sign I made for my cars that say "Please DO NOT Wash MY Car" and I leave it on the dash when ever i have to take the vehicles in for service and also make sure i tell the Service Writer several times.

This has been debated in great detail. Why don't you go to him and tell him that what you found with your vehicle and that you want him to pay for it to be corrected by a detailer that you trust. Tell him how much work you put into it and that you are not pleased. If you lose him as someone you can take your car to then so be it.

I was gonna go with some pics i snapped and show him some sun shots lets see what he says,I don't think he'll have problem with polishing out as much as i would having to return to the shop..

BTW,he's not aware of the other estimates so it dosen't even know he was $300.00 below the 2 previous estimates:)

Well then he really didn't save you anything. I thought he discounted you for something he did.

As much as I hate taking my car in for ANYTHING, I'd have to admit the dealership I have been dealing with for service seems to be ok, although largely its from them being poor in the past...

When I took my car in for its first oil change, I told them do not wash my car. They told me they never would, as in the past they had taken them to the nearby carwash and destroyed the finish on someones car (they also have a bodyshop onsite, so I'm guessing they either had to polish it all out or repaint). At most they said they would give "free vouchers" for using the nearby carwash (which I would then just throw away). Regardless, I always remind them multiple times whenever I have to go in (and I always deal with the same service writer, so I think he gets the idea by now...lol).

Additionally, they have just started photographing all cars as they come in, and taking closeups of any existing scratches. I know this is to protect them from customers saying they did something, but it works both ways as if there is a scratch that wasn't there before (and they don't have a photo of it), then they are at fault and must correct it.

I made signs using Microsoft Word and also used the free translation services of AltaVista's Babelfish to put it in both portuguese and spanish, then had them laminated. Whenever I have any of my vehicles are serviced, the signs go in the car, and I make sure that it is emphasized with the service writer.

So far, no "free washes"... just as I like it!
