Just out of curiosity - why does everyone praise sealants' & waxes' ability to make water bead uniformly on their cars?



Yes, the water beads nicely on my AIO/SGx3 car, but after it rains I'm left with a polka-dotted car...

I think it's mostly peace of mind, they see it "working" so they get that warm feeling in side lol. If you're getting h2o spots just go over the car with some QD.

yea I've always wondered why also, I guess uniform waterspots are better then nonuniform hehe

Heh heh, yeah, it's arguable that those of us who like uniform beading are being utterly irrational about it and oughta try for "sheeting" instead.



But I *like* seeing beads that look a certain way, and IMO it's all about enjoying the whole car ownership experience. The uniform beading lets me know the LSP is still doing its job and says "nice waxjob" in an old-school kind of way. FWIW, I've never had any real problem with any of the supposed dangers of beads and if beading on a dirty vehicle causes a mess I just wash it (note that some products that bead are also "self cleaning" in the rain- #16 comes to mind). If I *did* have problems from the beads, I'd certainly look into something that is supposed to "sheet" instead.

I prefer sheeting over beading now that I realize it makes drying the car 300x easier (if you use a sheeting wash, GC Wax + GC wash). I just wish some of the better waxes would promote sheeting.

yea what waxes do you use sheeting? I don't have the time or place now that I moved into the dorms to QD it or dry it these days. Heck I don't even have time to wash the car anymore.
