Beading characteristics

I used ClearKote Carnauba Moose Wax on my whole car (3x...2nd layer was after 24 hours, 3rd layer was applied 2 days after that), as well as the windshield. When I washed, I noticed that the paint sheeted similar to EX/EX-P, but the windshield beaded like crazy, along with the other windows which have Zaino on them.

I wonder why it's like that? It's something I've noticed with other sealants/waxes. They'll stop beading on my paint, but will continue to bead on my windows. The windows also never seem to be affected by wash shampoo residue, they always bead like crazy.

Any explanation as to why this happens?

maybe glass is a harder material/surface than paint and thus have a higher surface tension? :nixweiss

Short answer-. It is beleived to be determined by the relative adhesive and cohesive forces between the fluids and the surface

Surface Tension:

The Laplace-Young Equation (surface tension)- is derived from force or energy considerations is that at equilibrium a fluid forms a set angle, V with any solid surface touching the fluid.

This angle, V is called the contact angle and depends only on the nature of the ``fluid'', ``air'' and the solid surface. It is beleived to be determined by the relative adhesive and cohesive forces between the fluids and the surface (also called van der Waals forces).

~Hope this helps~

LOL. I'm a college professor. I get that ALL THE TIME.

BTW, I have used Klasse nearly exclusively in the last year. I find it beads about as well on the car itself as the windows. But, it doens't rain that much here so that may have something to do with it.

matt, I personally have seen beading stop on my windows over time (I just wash them, don't shine them or use polish).

sealant lasts longer on glass than on paint, probably cause it's a harder surface and less porous.
