Ive read a load of threads about megs no 20, and they all say about not putting anything else under it, apart from clean paint. I love the way my car looks after a coat of megs swirl free and a coat of hand polish, with these cause bonding issues if i then apply the number 20? or will the cleaners in the 20 will remove them anyway and make it pointless???

I have also wondered if as has been ascertained that number 20 has cleaners and cant really be layered, how about instead of using more coats of 20, what would happen if i topped the 20 with some coats of Autoglym extra gloss. I have had good results in the past topping autoglym resin polish with the extra gloss and then topping with wax, but now really like the way the car looks with the swirl free and hand polish. Over xmas im thinking of paint cleaning, clay, using the swirl free, then a coat of number 20 and a few layers of Extra gloss before topping with the trusty p21s. EG bonds well to resin polish as its designed to, reckon it will bond to number 20???

Cheers

try it on a small area first . i have put autoglym on to of klasse s.g .i believe autogllym has some carnuba in it plus the resin. i i know that autogly does not bound with the water in oil sealants like pupp.;it just slips around.experimenting is half the fun anyway happy holidays.

In the absence of any opinion based on experience I hope my speculation will help. ;)

In the past it has almost always been said that glazing (Hand Polish in your case) is useless or counterproductive prior to using any sealant-type product such as AG, #20, Z, K, etc. But now I'm beginning to question this because of all the recent talk about P21s/S100 paint cleansers. More than one of the highly experienced members here has mentioned how using these glaze-like paint cleansers prior to waxes OR sealant products has resulted in an improved look. Because of this, it isn't a stretch of logic to wonder if using a true glaze would help in a similar way.

There used to be a member here (Len_A I think) who listed using #7 glaze prior to applying #20 in his signature. I recall him saying this was a prep stage, and some people (including me) said doing so probably gained him little, but now I'm not so sure anymore. Maybe try looking through his posts and see if he elaborated on this at some point.

As mentioned, you could always try it out on 1/2 a surface and see how it looks and holds up. :)

Oh yeah, if I were to guess, I also don't see why Autoglym EG wouldn't bond to #20.

As long as the number 20 will bond i will prep the car with swirl free and hand polish then a coat of 20 and layer on some E.G and see how it goes before topping with wax.

Rich - I just hope you can find some weather to do all this :nixweiss Utter rubbish weather here at the moment and we seem to have about 2 hours of light :(

Quick Q - isnt EG the same as #20?

Luckily i have a mates warehouse unit to use over christmas. warm and dry!!!

EG has no cleaners in it like the 20, so i can layer it.

Just washed mine again! Given it a coat of show car glazwe and P21s and some blitz on the lower portions looks sweet bet it rains soon!

Maybe? Going to be pretty full in there! My Pug, a volvo t5, Land Rover discovery, a Pug 205 gti and two cossies in for treatment!!!

Hey since we're on the topic of #20, does anyone know if I can work #9 into the layer of #20 that I already have and top up with another layer of #20?
