I predict this thread will not end well... :nervous2:

Debates about religion and political correctness rarely do.

I'm definitely with ZoranC on this one though. Whether this whole thing with Meguiar's is true or not, I do not support or tolerate discrimination of any type. If someone wants to run their company based on traditional Judeo-Christian moral values fine . . . but when you start forcing people to be religious that's a different story.

I'm very happy that I live in a socially liberal state where this type of behaviour would not be tolerated.

Being a private company, he has the right to hire or not hire anyone he chooses.

WRONG, you can get tortured by some dime store attorney if you are conducting biased hiring anywhere in America.

What if I owned a Pizzeria that would not serve blacks?

Or I had a sign in front that said - NO HICKS or WHITE TRASH!

Even if I believed that and went to group meetings supporting it every week, I couldnt run my store that way.

ACLU - coming to torture you!

Also, using religion alignment as decision weighing factor in hiring and firing is nothing but discrimation and is quite opposite of respect because it means one cosiders other person having lesser value just because of them being of different religion.

I have a feeling you would be less inclined to applaud if you didn't happen to be Christian.

I guess we'll agree to disagree, because I don't think you're reading my words the way I am writing them.

I don't think preferring a certain type of employee for one's business means other people aren't respected. For instance, I have some lazy friends. Do I want them to work for me? No, that means they have a lousy work ethic/principle/value. Do I still respect them? Definitely - they're great people.

If a person decides to hire non-Christians for their business, I may not agree with all of their principles, but I would still applaud them for having the ability to make that decision and sticking with what they believe in.

What does this have to do with hiring/firing people? Who has the authority to say what person has the best qualifications, values, personality, etc. for any specific position?

I know tons of churchs who only hire Christians, etc. Should they all be sued, too?

In retrospect, I should have locked this thread instead of commenting earlier. I was feeling chatty, and I really should know better. :o

Neither religion nor politics threads ever end well, and this one has a bit of both. Before anything gets too uncivil, I think we should just stop things here. I hope no one's calm was damaged too badly.
