Bare Feet, Detailing and Eagle One's A2Z Wheel Cleaner ....

First of all let me start with -- I am a jacka** for having done this -- but here it is -- yesterday -- I spent around 4 hours fixing up a Black MB E320 and thought -- hmmm ... what a nice day -- let me walk around barefoot and do all the work --- the chemicals can't be that bad with all the water that I have flowing all the time ....

Now mind you --- I start of with the interior of the car ... no probs .. then I move to the tires first -- and use A2Z full strength on the wheels -- Of course I walk around the car barefoot the entire time and wash off all the A2Z from the wheel and tires --- I then proceed to do the rest of the car ... By then end of it all my feet are tingling / slightly numb / sore.

24 hours later -- still slightly sore / with a slight tingly feeling.

Lesson learned -- wear sneakers in the future -- and consider not using A2Z anymore but instead use Simply Green.

Oh well ... <grin>

BTW -- The car turned out great.

If you get Simple Green on your bare skin for a long time, it'll be the same. Most of those cleaners (APC+, EFHI, A2Z, Simple Green) are very alkaline solutions which will cause mild to severe irritations of the skin if left on for long periods.

As 2wheelsx2 said, it's better to use the proper chemicals, but in the proper way. Old boat-type shoes (Dockers, Sperry's, etc.) or sneakers are good and are anti-slip.

Double ditto.

Do yourself a favour and at least get some sandals so that you're not standing in chemical-filled water. Full shoes are really better and safer when working with chemicals though.
