Ok

ill keep it nice, easy, and simple

I own 2 cars-

98 seville

1995 crown vic

Crown vic has a decent size dent from some ahole in a parking lot, and the seville, while, its oxidation / mismatched color city.

I want to try my best to get these cars decent, so i decided to try to ask how in gods name can i get swirls out.

I have some major swirls, and its redicilious.

Also, how do i get marks out, that did not scratch my paint, but just left someone elses paint on my car. I really am a noob to all of this, and i am learning, so be gentle.

I am using zymol leather conditioner in the caddy, along with some cheapo walmart supertech soap, claymagic claybar and lube, zymol wax.

So, in general, i want to know what is a good

Sealant / Wax, sealant preferbly, as i live in chicago

Interior Cleaner for plastics / make them nice and shiny (i know armor all and that stuff will dry out)

Decent leather cleaner / conditioner

Decent wash

How to get swirls out

how to get small scratches out

Getting swirls out by hand is really tough work. You really need a buffer to get them out. If the paint is that damaged I 'd recommend going to a professional to get it brought back to life.

As for sealant. DO a search in the group for Duragloss sold at Carquest I think.

Scratches that don't go through to the paint can be fixes with meguires scratchX. If it goes through the paint you need touchup paint.

Start with the Guide to detailing: http://autopia.org/forum/guide-detailing/

You can click on Polishing Paint to Perfection and get a lot of good advice.

If the swirls are bad, i wouldn't even consider doing it by hand. You can do most everything with the UDM / Porter Cable 7424 DA machines, they just take a while.

You can also use a rotary, but if you are a beginner i would advise against it.

Maybe my terminology is wrong but if memory serves me correct DA is "Dual Action" Which means it rotates like a rotary but also "shimmies" at the same time. It does not do both.
