Bad mirrors

I took Blackfire compound and the BF finishing polish to get these mirrors back to good. After, since I was in a hurry I just sprayed them down with Z8 and Z14 where the plastic non painted area was. Only one before pic of the driver side but they both looked exactly the same. Oh and it was done by hand with a microfiber app.

I run across faded plastic mirrors all the time like that. You'd think car manufacturers would use a more fade resistant plastic, eh?
 
Yeah i agree. I came across a problem though. Not 24 hours later and the faded area is coming back. its not nearly as bad but still bad. do you think if i used the pc instead of doing it by hand it would do better? I have seen a bunch of people use Klasse AIO on faded cars. Should I try the AIO and then proceed to use what I used?
 
Doesn't the Blackfire compound and finishing polish contain a lot of oils? Maybe they are drying out and causing the faded areas to return. I second the idea of using AIO on them.

Is it bad that they contain oils? thanks for the input, as soon as I do my next shopping spree I'll order some AIO. Hopefully that helps.

No, it isn't bad, but I thought I read where they added some additional lubricating oils to increase working time. It is just a guess that as the oils are drying out the faded areas are slowly coming back.



I could be completely wrong, but AIO often works wonders on black plastic like that, especially since you have them polished up already. If the AIO seems to work then you might want to top it with a more durable sealer like SG, Zaino, etc.

Correct, AIO is a very good cleaner that also has a light acrylic sealer.
 
I too would top the AIO with KSG, see how that holds up. But see how it looks after the AIO, it might not look as good as it did with the "oily" finish.
