Bad holograms Klasse AIO

My vote is for too much AIO and the "holograms" are unbuffed residue. AIO is brutal if you put it on too thick and leave it too long--just like SG.

I tried scrubbing it and i put alcohol on it and it did not do anything. He did use a lot of it on his truck. i was not paying attention i was washing mine. I would like to say i used it on my truck with the PC and had outstanding results

Were those there before? Did he wash the truck before he applied the AIO? It looks to me like wash swirls...and then there is some unbuffed AIO.

yeah he washed the truck before hand. the truck is a little dirty now, because of polin but no the truck didn't look like that. it looks terrible.

What about the wash method and media? The applicator used for the AIO? The buffing cloth? Were they non-marring and clean? Was the truck in need of serious claying?

I just can't see an application of AIO causing that unless there was bad or dirty media (during washing or AIO or both), or the truck had a lot of stuff (dirt or bonded contaminants) left on it after washing.

Applicator was new, MF towel used to take of was new. Wash method probably wasn't what it should have been but an ok job. I tried a spot for the clay and didn't pick up much. Used Mother's clay bar, i've only used one other time. I can't seem to remove any contaminants with it.

I'm worried about what caused it, but more worried on how to fix it. They truck has a lot of scratches and now holograms. So i'll probably just polish the whole thing now. I bought some m105 and m205 to try out on it and see if i can't fix it.

Was the new buffing towel of good quality? Heavy AIO residue can be a real PITA, I can see one of those cheap plastic MF's being the culprit in that case. Anyway, good luck, your PC and 105/205 should fix that right up! We want after pics!

Another theory is that the swirls were there before and the KAIO brought them into sharp relief.

KAIO doesn't conceal - in fact, just the opposite - it tends to highlight any marring.

If your friend's vehicle was neglected and un-waxed for some time any marring would not have been visible due to the poor condition of the finish.

If, on the other hand, he waxed frequently with an OTC wax, most OTC waxes have strong fillers that conceal marring, for example, NXT. The car will look glossy but that hides the *real* condition of the paint.

KAIO removes all waxes and fillers giving you a *true* picture of your paint. Glossy but badly in need of correction.

I will definitely get you some after pics for sure now that i figured out how to post pics. Does anyone know the best way tackle it? I'm dying to learn the KB Method but i understand he is busy. So if i could talk to one of you guys and maybe you could help since this is a perfect opportunity for me.

I think that is likely the truth as well, I suggested that right away but the OP stated the car was clean, so I'm taking him at his word.

That is a very good theory. Here is why, my friend is a washing machine when it comes to his truck. He washes at last twice and week. He waxes as much as he washes, but doesn't use the best techniques. Guess what wax he uses? NXT, so you mite be right; however, the truck has been garage keep most of it's life. His dad gave it to him about two years ago. Could all of that damage happen in that short of time?

Just follow the directions on the bottles, man, and you'll be fine. The KBM is an alternate to rotary/wool for brutalized vehicles, it's not the only method to use these products.

I've had that experience. Years ago I spent all day polishing out a black cars paint until it was flawless. I removed the polish residue with a brand of MF that I thought was quality (bought it from Autopia store back in the day). I took it out into the sun and it was full of holograms. Made no sense...I only used a PC back then. I traced it back to those MF towels that left micofine scratches in the paint that were so fine they looked liked holograms. I re-polished it with FPII and *real* quality MF and all was well.

Yes it can. Everytime you touch the paint you risk marring it. Having a poor wash technique guarantees that.

2 years x washing twice a week = 200 washes poorly excecuted.

Ok i just bought some *real* MF towels. I have to tell you guys this kind of stuff spokes me. Doing someone else's car and it come out looking like that. I mean i didn't do this truck and i haven't had one come out like that but still i know it will happen eventually.

No it won't. Not like that. Every car out there has swirls. If it's been to a tunnel wash it has swirls. If it's been hand washed it's got swirls. If someone rubbed up against it when it was dirty, it has swirls. The best any of us can do is to minimize the swirls we put in, because they are inevitable, to a large degree.
