I used back to black today and wqs fairly impressed. I'm wondering how durable that is though. How long until I have to re-aplly it? And, what other products are out there that are similar?
 
Its crap IMO, I have a bottle sitting in my recycle bin right now that is oer 3/4 full. If someone wants it pay shipping and its yours.
 
I LOVE the stuff on black wipers and especially the "bumper black" trim on my '89 Mustang.

Granted, it doesn't last long (maybe 2 wash jobs), but it does look very good, doesn't run, tack or make a mess.

Mother's Back to Black is similar, but is smeary, runs, gets tacky in the sun and lasts only one wash job at all. It does seem to do a bit better on grained plastics, like fender flares and such.

My apologies, I had my mind off on Black Chrome. Its a black colored lotion, entirely different from Mother's.

Used to come in a black bottle, I have tons of it, can almost never find it, the product itself was almost like a black gel, but it wasn't tacky, smelly, sticky or anything. Worked great on wipers, black bumper trim, basically anything black.

Sorry for the confusion, I guess I should see who makes the stuff, I think it might have been Turtle Wax.
 
Yep. Turtle Wax made the Black Chrome. I'm wondering how similar their colored wax would be to this stuff. IIRC it did work well on moderate fading. Not restoration quality on shot rubber bumpers, but nice on the trim etc.

A product similar to Mothers BtB would be PB's Trim Restorer. I haven't tried the new, water based version, but the original version worked very well!
If you get streaking with the BtB, you may not have buffed off the residue well enough. It does require buffing afterwards. I had found that it often took a few applications to bring back the color to faded plastics, but eventually it seemed to need touching up less frequently.
 
I'm having good results so far with "Black Again". I applied it to the door handles, bumper pads, and rear bumper scuff protector on my Jeep about two weeks ago. Everything is still a rich black, even though it's rained nearly every day since I applied it, and my Jeep is ungaraged.

I was just in your hometown!!! We ate at this awsome place called Sticky Fingers. Ugh it was the best damn BBQ.

We also at at a really good pizza place that I do not remember the name of. Its right on the main strip there.
 
Off topic: Sticky Fingers is great! And their Sunday buffet is even better, since you can just go back for more. :D More great BBQ is at Dinosaur's in ROC or SYR, and Joey's Ribs in CRW. :)

On topic: Can't say enough good things about PB's Trim Restorer. And a picture is worth 1x10^3 words. :p

Back to black is good stuff, black again is not.
