I am not sure what the difference is in tape color. I buy my green tape from an auto body supply store. Itis great stuff.

As far as process, if you have read any of my threads you already know I am a Meguiars user. We start with a wool pad and #85 and work our way down.

It is topped with #21.

Could you elaborate a little more on the process? How far did you work your way down...85 on a rotary? Do you guys start with test panels or always just start at 85? Especially after using other detailers..wasnt there concern how heavy the others compounded the finish before you started? Thanks

We do examine the vehicle really good before we get started. We did find some burn through on the left qrtr panel and made sure the client knew about it before we started.

If I remember correctly we used #85 with an aggressive foam pad. That was followed with multiple passes with #82 on a DA. Then #9 topped with #21.

Guess what we have to polish next...................... a blue Bugatti Veyron !!!!!!!!

Thanks for sharing the process details :cooleek: The car looks amazing! The 21 really looks great after proper prep..cant wait to see your future click and brags!

No less then 50 picures is required of that detail or you will be banned. Sorry, new rules. :nervous2:

Joe - Amazing Work. I am speechless on the quality of work you have there. You have inspired me to use more and more #21!

- A side question. Im sure you do weekly washes on the vehicles you detail. What are you seeing for durability? Sorry for the offtopic.

Thats awesome. I wish I could work for your shop. I have a question. Whats the difference between the blue painters tape and green automotive tape?

The blue tape pictured isn't regular painters tape. It is a plastic pin-stripe tape made by 3M. You can purchase it in 1/8"-3/4" widths I believe.

It is great because you can bend/stretch it like crazy. You could go all the way around a window molding without a single break in the tape other than the start/stop point. I'm talking 1" diameter turns. The tape gets pretty expensive though.

Scotch(R) Plastic Tape 471 Blue

Absolutely great work - big fat kudos!

That blue tape is amazing - thanks for the link. I want to say I read that the green tape has a lighter adhesive to prevent any type of residue left on the finish...and anyone confirm/deny?

Ferrari...Bugatti...sheesh. I'm doing an Avalon and an E320 this weekend. :D
