back from the dealer...and something followed me home

just brought home a new lexus IS350! the more i think about it, the happier i am about it!

no pics until tomorrow, after i can give her a nice spa treatment.

basically, i found a nearby dealer with a few 2007 models on their lot...still NEW. hmmm. why do they still have 07 models in stock? the 2009's are coming out next month. hmmmm. so, i email back and forth with them and ended up getting $8400 off MSRP. :spot

i tried for $10k off MSRP, but they wouldn't go for that. haha! it had 350 miles on it, but is considered new, perfect condition (as expected), etc. my only guess is it didn't have all the fluffy options that people wanted, so it sat there.

either way, i was OTD after taxes, title, plate transfer, etc for more than $6000 off MSRP. i am pretty confident that is a sweet deal. that also includes about 4 years of maintenance (ALL maintenance intervals included up through 50k miles...oil, rotations, etc, etc).

summary: 2007 IS350. "tungsten pearl" color (light silver). good price.

:xyxthumbs

yeah what was the OTD price? But it's an 07 so it has been sitting on the lot for a year with only 350 miles? Make sure to change the oil right away.

paradigm- I predict you're in for an utterly trouble-free ownership experience :D Congrats on the good deal.

I dunno if I'd worry about the oil change (condensation/etc. issues) or not  maybe see if the dealer'll do it gratis. For me, it'd probably depend on whether I planned to keep it forever or only through the warranty period.

finally got her cleaned up and presentable...:getdown

i did a wash, clay, and one step on the paint and then sealed with Z5/Z8. there was absolutely NO protection on it. in fact, i've never seen less beading on a car than this one. haha. funny how they made me wait for an hour while it was "detailed". i asked them not to touch the exterior, but they kept insisting. whatever. there was very slight swirling and a few tiny etches here and there. can't complain since it sat outside for a year.

that spot under the S is rust!

j/k. it's dirt...i saw it in the pic after posting here and had to go out and check...wiped right off. so much for a successful first detail of the car! haha. i suspect some water dripped down after i took the pic. good eye! :grinno:

edit: my 1000th post!! :spot

Good week for you. Brand new lexus sports car and 1000 post.

BTW, the lexus owners club as a great forum. Lots of helpful people who pointed me in autopia's direction. Great car specific tips there too.

hey paradigm, just curious... how many miles do you have on your 92' accord?

Great looking car. Almost bought one!

How did they insist on detailing? It was your car at that point, wasnt it? My dealership tried to tell me it was part of the purchase and I had to let them do it. I basically told them if they touched my brand new ordered car, I wouldnt be buying it.

i had not seen it yet and it was already in the detail bay when i got to the dealership. the salesperson wanted to "have it cleaned up and inside the showroom" for me. i told them i didn't care/didn't want it cleaned before looking since i needed to drive it and they could just spare themselves the work (me being polite), but they insisted. the sales person pretty much implied that her boss would freak out if she showed a dirty car to a customer. haha

they didn't do too much damage anyway...and the color is super forgiving.
