I got new shoes for the Carrera C4S the other day. Not wanting the tire dealer to touch the car itself or handle the alloy lug nuts, I took all the 4 wheels off and carried them to the shop. On the way home I brought back the old monster rear tires to keep as spares. So I ended up with 6 wheels and tires in the Audi S4. Or the "S4UV" as I call it now! Who needs a truck! :p



I ended up getting Bridgestone S02's. Fat 18" tires are expensive! Ouch! :eek: Almost$1200 worth.

Post more pics. I never get tired of drooling over the ponies in your stable. When is the S4 and the C4S going to mate and kick out some youngins? That's good breeding stock you got there. ;)

Caught me! Your absolutely right. I "had" S02's. These are S03's.
 
What kind of car lift is that. That looks like something I could use in my garage. Great looking cars!!!! :xyxthumbs C4S and a S4 you got my respect. It must suck waking up in the morning and trying to decide which car to drive...lol

Thanks for the comments. I love the lift. It goes up about 3 feet. It's low enough that anything can roll over it. Check here for info.

i was going to say S-03's. For they dont make S-02's anymore.



Great choice or tyre, real good in the wet with all those keyhole sipes and all.



May i sked what persuaded you to buy them? What others did you have on the shopping list?

I was limited in choices because of the rear size. Others I looked at were:



Michelin Pilot Sport

Pirelli P Zero Assimetrico N2

Pirelli P Zero Rosso

BF Goodrich G-Force T/A



The Michelins were the most expensive, about $40 more a tire. The reviews on tire rack for cars like mine were mixed. I had a friend with the Assimetricos so that was my #2 choice but frankly, I didn't like the sidewall look. Another friend had Rossos and hated them when they got to the halfway wear point. He said the cold use, noise factor and slippage all increased. I have this thing against Goodrich so never considered them. The Tire Rack ratings of the S03's surpassed the S02's in almost every catagory and I loved my S02's so I went that route. We'll see.:nixweiss
 
Brad good lineup indeed. Im a tyre nut, so ill let you know the following.



Ont a DVD i have "Best Motoring Volume 6" They had a comparo which included a BMW M3. As well all know the M3 comes with Michelin Pilot Sports (flagship tyre). The tyres went after 4 laps, i was suprised.



Pirelli are a good choice, but in a tyre comparison recently done their P6's and P7's did not go well at all, and the word i get on the street is that their Pzero range isnt what it used to be, if you get what i mean. :(



Now they tyres that i keep on hearing good things about are Yokohama's, Dunlops and Bridgestone (especially the Potenza GIII and Potenza S-03). You can rest easy at night knowing you purchased a tyre that had development input from Scuderia Ferrari F1 team as well as BAR Honda F1 to develop the S-03 (as well as Bridgestones brilliant development team).



Sorry guys, i love tyres as you can tell.
 
Ah, the S4. One of my favorite cars. I would love to detail that car. Anytime your in the Philadelphia area, stop on by, I'll detail it for free...........and maybe just one quick spin around the block :D
 
Good decision, Brad. I have the Pirelli P Zero Assimetrico N2 (285/30 18") on my C2S and they are not enough grip.

You must have been pricing 285/30's. The tire selections in that size are very limited and annoying.



I am going to be due for 4 new ones the next time around and I am considering changing sizes to get a better selection of tires. I have Pirelli PZero Asimmetrico's and are happy with them, but like you the price to replace all 4 is ridiculous. I just replaced two rears and it was something like $635 with tax (not mounted or balanced). I think that Kuhmo and Sumitomo make a couple of different street tires that are very good for the money. And they are considerable cheaper than the Bridgestone, Michelin and Pirelli’s. The way I look at it, with the RS alignment specs, my car eats tires so quickly that even if I get tires I don’t like I won’t have to wait long to replace them.
 
The Bridgestone Pole Position S-03 is one of the tires that I am considering when I get the 18" rims for the Maxima. However, the stock Bridgestone RE92s are going to be replaced with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S in the Stock size. The RE92s are horrid in terms of wet and snow traction.
 
The S0-3 are horrible in the snow. In fact they are horrible under under dry when the temp is 45 degrees and below. They are strictly a summer only tire. The rubber compound turns into a hockey puck at about 45 degrees, which results in absolutely no stick. If you have to drive in snow you will have to get winter only tires to go with your S0-3's.

You can do mine;) Next time I head to NYC maybe i'll stop by philly for a detailing:D
 
If you are shopping for so-2, or 3's i hightly suspect you will have alternate tires for the other months.........



my buddy had so-2's on his s2000, he loved them, then when he needed new tires he went with the 3's....even better traction all round except for right off the line dragging the car.....they cant bite like the 2's when he took the car to the drag strip on 2 trips....



with that sed he still likes the 3's.....
